Who agrees that the buyer management parameters for sellers SUCK?

This subject is about one aspect of the recent upsurge of brand new 0 feedback buyers trying to game ebay by posting bogus listings and bidding on items at the last minute and then never paying  for the item or even responding at all, to name the two grifts that I'm experiencing both as a seller and buyer.

As a seller, I just got burned by one of those 0 feedback grifters, which was from a foreign country , just as I really needed to sell the expensive item QUICKLY and get paid for it, and don't want it to happen again. I had to wait 4 days after the bidding closed to even cancel the transaction .

IO didn't want this to happen again, so I went to "buyer management" to try to set a policy to block bids from 0 feedback buyers, ideally who've joined in the last month because that's the trend with these grifters. Not only couldn't I set a policy for not accepting bids from new buyers, but I also couldn't for buyers with any amount of feedback on it's own WITHOUT also stipulating how many items ABOVE ZERO that they've bought from me.

This is a RIDICULOUS requirement! **bleep** would I want to block ANY bid of somebody whose all ready bought from me?

The choices ebay gives us to manage bidder p[references on our item is the same as it has been FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS and is ABSOLOUTELY USELESS.

Therefore, if you think sellers need some decent, common sense USEFUL tools to restrict bidders from bidding on our listings, PLEASE leave a comment here! Thank you

Buyers who post bogus listings? I have no idea what that means.

Want better control of your listings? Switch to Fixed Price, with the Immediate Payment Required option.

20 years is a stretch.  When we first started, we could block/tackle with better buyer parameters.  You are correct, you cannot block a zero FB buyer.

E-Bay has a "guest" checkout option that will always show as a Zero FB buyer.  They're not going to allow the ability to evoke the parameters you want.

I admit that "bogus" is a bit euphemistic, but in the interest of brevity I used it anyway, with the assumption, which turned out to be wrong in your case, that most buyers have encountered the issue. I mean as buyer I had happened upon just ABOUT EVERY TIME I searched for a fairly expensive camera model. Either that your you're pretending to be ignorant and just like to see your name in print. In case you're not feigning ignorance, "Bogus" in this case means O feedback brand new sellers in countries, which  are well known locations for Ebay scammers, posting "buy it now"  listings that are $100 or more below everybody else's selling prices with free or moderate shipping . The first one I came across,, I bought it and thankfully couldn't pay for it. So I wrote the "seller" and never got a reply. Subsequently, I came across several more exactly the same, with different o feedback brand new "sellers" in various other countries posting used cameras $100-$300 cheaper than other sellers, which, when I clicked on them to open in a different tab, I got an ebay message instead about the page being unavailable. I hope this clears things up and was worth it for you. NOW IMAGINE IF I HAD PUT ALL THIS IN MY FIRST POST.

Quit buying and selling outside the US. It IS a function you can put in both search and your selling parameters.

Regarding blocking 0 buyers, that will never happen; no point in even discussing it much less mentioning it. As already mentioned, stop doing auctions. Do 'Buy It Now' with 'Immediate Payment Required'. This way, 0 or no 0, buyer must pay or the listing still stays up for all to see.

On a side note-"Not Paying Bidders" is not a grift. A grift is when someone tries, or is successful, scamming someone out of something. To simply bid and not follow through is not a 'grift'.

In frustration, with this last item that prompted me to write this rant, I did repost it for domestic sale only because it's an item that gets lots of interest and watchers. honestly I don't do hardly any auctions. I mostly sell stuff that's not that much in demand. So this experience with the 0 feedback non-paying buyers is new to me but probably not new on ebay.

So I think that with highly sought after merchandise, not selling internationally is actually a viable solution that I had all ready thought of after I got another look at the  total sh** , useless options for "buyer management" that ebay has.

But that has NOTHING to do with me posting m complaints here about it because if nobody ever complains SH** NEVER GETS FIXED because Ebay ,or whomever,  gets to thinking they're perfect, everything is hunky dory fine, when actually they aren't and it isn't , rather it's  that MOST PEOPLE ARE TOO LAZY AND CORRUPT TO BE BOTHERED TO COMPLAIN!

In fact I sometimes get ad hominem replies to my complaints from sellers or businesses saying "nobody else complained about this" to which I invariably reply :"#1 that's an adhominem reply and #2  THAT'S BECAUSE most people are too lazy to" (And YOU KNOW IWHO YOU ARE AND THAT I AM RIGHT)

First, this is nothing new. I've been selling here since 1998 and it's been going on since then.

All new bidders, good or bad, start with zero FB.

And less than half of transactions generate any FB at all.

Second, don't use Auctions.

Auctions make up less than 15% of transactions, and if you consider that most auctions have the Buy It Now option or Best Offer option, both of which end the auction early, the number is even lower.

Yet, Auctions make up most of the Unpaid Item Disputes.

Use Fixed Price.

Add Immediate Payment Required.

Your listing will stay open for 30 days or until someone hands over the money.

Problem solved.

EBay actually has a special program for international sales that was designed for Seller Protection.

It's called the Global Shipping Program.

Once your shipment reaches the GSP plant in Kentucky, most of the Money Back Guarantee is void.

And you are not instructed to ship until the buyer has paid not only your price plus shipping but also his own nation's duty and sales taxes plus the added cost of international shipping.

It's been around for a decade or so and popular enough that eBay also extended it to UK sellers.

Ebay doesn't read this as it is a peer to peer forum, so others NOT complaining aren't lazy, they're informed.

Ebay isn't really a good place to sell if you need a quick sale.

With all the legitimate new buyers coming to the platform, it would make zero sense to be able to block them. Set your shipping preferences to block those foreign countries known to have a higher incidence of scamming citizenry. Then set your Buyer Requirements to block buyers who have an address you don’t ship to. That should help stop some of the deadbeats. However, they can use a re-shipper to avoid such tactics.

Since you can't block reshippers you can't really get around foriegn buyers.  Also doesn't matter that you shipped domestic, you still get charged a foriegn transaction fee.  Rather it's due to the type of funds being interchanged or simply being the buyers registered address is foriegn, you pay that fee.  Wish we could block it though...
