Been on ebay for 18 yrs. top rated seller with 100% approval ratings. Over the course of that time, I've grown and added many new product lines & put thousands of dollars in new items online here this year alone.
This year it seems is the year that ebay has died, for in spite of discounts, and sales, I am now lucky if I get 100 dollars in sales in a week! (used to be 3-5x that much) I have 1400+ current active listings on ebay and not a single sale in 2 days now? WTH is going on here? I do price searches for similar items. Our prices are competitive, nearly always lower than others. I share several product posts daily on facebook, instagram ect. (free advertising) Still nothing. Some say its the new algorithms, but how do we counter or fix that if this is the problem? (you'd THINK ebay would be more on top of this issue) I'm not going to be able to hang on here if things don't perk up. 😢 Open to suggestions.

You have to spread your wings. Use ebay as well as other platforms, you will be amazed how sales will pick up. If it wasn't for other platforms and my site I would have folded by now.

Unfortunately, with this economy, the customers became sellers.😃

Oh yes, definitely the economy. Definitely that. Except for the random days when the economy forgets to be bad. And like, two days ago, when I made zero sales outside a 4-hour window of the afternoon, and those sales were all to people in Florida and Puerto Rico.
Yes, nothing odd going on at all. No strange visibility or rolling blackouts. There are no bad sales, you didn't see any bad sales. Take this man to the infirmary...

Customer service is reading off their script. Best to disregard.
There's not even any way to calculate how much a click is worth because Ebay's promotions work so counter-intuitively.
Here are some results from a recent test I ran.

Shows are quiet. The streets are quiet. Everyone is waiting.

Three main reasons.
1. Its ebay. Site is having seriois problems site wide and they affect a lot of sellers.
2. Its the economy. Its terrible right now.
3. It has something to do with your items. Dont know what, but it may be niche items, or prices, or seasonal, or non-critical kinds of items.

There are many old time sellers who can relate to what you are saying. I am one of them. This is what I think the problem is besides economy which is a little bit but not all of the problem. I don't like blaming economy because that means there is nothing we can do and I don't buy that sentiment.
Ebay has focussed on how to make more money and forgot its basic stuff which is what launched ebay back in the mid 90's, getting more traffic to the sellers. It has lots of ways to add promotions, add fees for auction, feedback scores and its top ranking, mid ranking, below ranking etc..., stores, and layers of store and item specifics and on and on... it should be focussed totally on getting traffic to ebay.
The sellers have spent money on promotions, improving item specifics, coupons, etc... but the best thing I have found is to do whatever you can to increase traffic. End the listing and resist it. I have spent money on back end seo and the best thing has been stop old listings and relist them. That costs nothing more. Again, its focus on traffic, and the algorithm, (however that works)
Outside of that, I have no idea. Move to China. That seems to be where the Hot Market for Americans is.
Agree with most things. With regards to China you don't have to move there thanks to ecommerce. The foreign market place now represents over 50% of eBay's transactions and has grown significantly over the last several years. I believe that is a big reason why they developed the EIS program and are pushing sellers that were not already selling internationally to utilize the EIS program.
While there have been some transition issues if the program maintains the seller protections it currently has, which are better than the ones for domestic sales, this could be a huge opportunity for domestic sellers. It will be interesting to watch and see how this unfolds.
I do have some reservations about selling to some foreign countries China being one of them but those reservations are not based on risk.

The Chinese direct to USA SALES app TEMU is causing pain. There are many items that folks sell here for a small markup that are now delivered free in about 14 days at Chinese factory direct prices . It is the number two downloaded app in the US behind Amazon now . The attack started in the Super Bowl commercials “ shop like a billionaire” . They are using our postal system free of charge . Take a look and if it’s items you also sell you will see why your sales are off . I do not believe eBay did a thing to hurt anyone’s sales . People have less money to spent and they still need the things they need and want
That would be one of the competition pieces. I try to avoid buying from China and a few other foreign countries for several reasons and it has always been a country that I would not ship to. One of my major issues with China has been their counterfeiting practices, which are supported and encouraged by a communist government. The other is the number of scams. China and India are two of the top friendly fraud countries in the world but that may have more to do with the number of people they have than it being simply a business or hobby for some individuals.

funny ..
I have found the same thing. No sales then three sales to Alaska in 10 minutes to three different people or some crazy thing like that.
Again, ebay should just focus on getting people to ebay.
The bots were helpful. I think ebay should bring them back!:))

The US will pay fewer subsidies to the UPU after renegotiation of China's status, according to Marketplace, "a 27% increase in 2020. Between 2020 and 2025, logistical costs for exporting small parcels from China are expected to increase 164%."

It's so many things. The economy and Ebay's changing algorithms, but in the states, it's also tax season. Many people had to pay in big time, those who are due refunds are at the mercy of a very slow IRS. If we don't go into a full board depression, like many are predicting, then it'll all slowly go back to normal. Hang in there. I have shops on other sites, and although I just started selling vintage on here, one of my other shops on Etsy has sold really well since 2018, and it is almost down to nothing now.

This is what I seem to be encountering right now. My new active listings aren’t appearing in search at all. I can’t figure out why.
