Right now can't use the money from sales to purchase anything in the precious metals/money categories. When will this change?

I don't expect the policy to ever be changed.

Don't precious metals have a well-defined spot price? And doesn't eBay have pretty high fees? I would think the combination of the two would make eBay a poor choice for them.

There is a well defined spot price but then premiums and numismatic values come into play. There are hundreds of thousands of listings in the coins/paper money categories so some sellers must be finding a way to make a profit.

Yes, as a coin dealer for over 50 years, I don't understand how the PM Houses do it on eBay.

I don't believe it's ebay that determines what can be purchased or sold using MP. I think Adyen
makes that decision.

Good question. I've been out of the coin biz for a few years. But when I stopped buying and
selling Gold my profit margin was less than the % that ebay is taking off the top.

I assume you are talking about the "spendable funds" option eBay has for sellers. If so I never really understood the limitations of that option either or why any seller would ever use it. It is for sure a money maker for eBay since they are not paying merchant fees to any CC company or financial processor but for me personally it makes no sense since I get cash back on the purchases I make using my CC. In addition I buy very little on eBay these days and that is the only venue you can use the spendable funds on.
