Hi all,
I've been in ebay jail now for a few months, but really made a run at bringing my account to below 2 percent defect rate. Before this month I had 6 defects out of 229 sales.
From what I understand, dec 2023's sales AND defects will come off. I had 1 defect and 29 sales in Dec 2023, so those will come off. I did the math and it sounded like I therefore needed to make up the 29 sales and then some, to get the percentage down. Ive made 60 sales this month, meaning it should show me as forcasted to be above standard...
229- 29 is 200. 6 defects minus 1 is 5 defects. So Now adding the 60 sales I made, that's 5 defects out of 260 which is .019 percent, which is under 2 percent, but I remain forcasted to be below standard. Did I do the math wrong here?

When does the forecast for seller rating really update?
It's been awhile since I sold, but I remember that the 20th of the month is the day for Seller evaluations. Hope that helps...

Not sure if eBay updates everyone at once but you should be able to look at the bottom and see the date your ratings update. What rolls off may be a matter of timing with regards to when in December the defect was assessed. What were the "defects" for? EBay is more forgiving on some than others.

Defects come off in 3 months which you get evaluated every month. Instead of doing the math what you really need to focus on is how to prevent defects from happening in the first place. As you are experiencing right now you have no room for error. As someone else has asked as well why are you receiving these defects? No tracking on specific items? Are you shipping off on time? Dealing with returns which you lost when Ebay stepped in?

The evaluation on the 20th of each month is based on the previous 12 full calendar months. So the evaluation on December 20, 2024 will include December 1, 2023 through November 30, 2024.

We had to deal with a death in the family and cancer, and I wasn't able to take orders so one month as they came in instead of pausing my store I was cancelling and refunding people right away, a bonehead mistake to be sure but I had larger things we were dealing with. I had no idea it was such a huge facotr in rating. I went from Top Seller to below standard. Ah well.
But now the dust has cleared and just trying to remedy the past. I have an excellent track record of never being late and 100 percent good feedback, just had a rough month last year.
Thanks for the answers and help!

Evaluations are done on the 20th of the month, and cover the period ending on the 1st of the month (20 days before the evaluation). The outcome of the evaluation done on the 20th takes effect on the 1st of the following month.
So on December 20th, you will be evaluated for the evaluation period that ends Dec 1st and that evaluation will take effect on Jan 1st.

Monthly and between 18th-20th looking at my defect....I have one back months and months ago.
It seems the more feedbacks one gets the lower it gets...looking at my solo neutral feedback.
It kinda looks like it hangs around for a year...mine is currently at 0.06...LOL
I love the term 'eBay jail' by the way.

Sorry for your loss and other medical issues. You will be back to TRS before you know it. Not sure of the reason you canceled but be careful with those. If you canceled for out of stock eBay takes serious issues with those. Some sellers have had their account restricted for too many of those.

Sounds like you have a solid handle on the situation. Hang tough.
