Yes, i got the "it was my child that bought it by accident" excuse.
I feel that i am at loss having to relist said item because of the loss of watchers.
The buyer said he wanted me to cancel the sale, but i kinda want to let this go to the UPI to prevent a similar occurrence for other sellers since the only buyers we are able to block are those with non-paying strikes against them.
Thoughts?

I would cancel as buyer requested. End of story, no long dragged out fights, no more aggravation. What if they pay after a UPI? Then maybe a not as described case later.
Do what's best for you, not what's worse for them!
just my opinion

I always give a brand new buyer a break. But I would let them know you're cancelling the transaction instead of filing a dispute and issuing a non payment strike on their account. Reason being is if you file a dispute they might pay to avoid a strike but end up returning it because if they didn't want it they're going to return it. Which is the lesser of two evils for you? Lose fees or lose return and original shipping costs?

always UPI
"dear buyer I must follow a procedure to get my fees back. eBay will send a couple of emails insisting you pay, you can just ignore them"

If they haven't paid I'm happy to cancel it for them.
If they've paid, all bets are off.

I'd certainly give him the break and go with buyer requested........ If we expect buyer to stay and buy, we've got to give them some leeway for not knowing how things work.......

I give no leeway for someone who hands their kid an electronic device with open apps. Sorry.
