Whats up with Sales?

What is going on with sales lately?  Its like I do not exist?  Have done well until lately...

I went an entire week...no sale?

I am flabbergasted...Anyone else have unusual activity?  or the lack of activity?

Re: Whats up with Sales?

It's because ebay won't advertise and they give coupons out to buyers for stuff they don't want. I get refurbished electronics coupons all the time, something I have never bought on ebay. Their advertising department is the worst it's ever been. I actually called a rep and I was talked to in a very condescending way. They have no information other than that there is an ad on the radio right now and I mention the Ebay Motors ad, yeah that helps people in the motors but what about everything else? The incentive to buy on ebay has left when ebay bucks happen only once a month and that's the once a month my store gets busy. I asked when those would happen or get a calendar for it because I'll need to make sure I don't have plans on ebay bucks day so I can accommodate my buyers..I was told there is no schedule, they just do them whenever. Well I guess my buyers will get their shipments whenever to, unlike the other sites I'm on, I baby those sites like I used to ebay, but since ebay doesn't care anymore, I don't care anymore, at least on ebay. Why buy boring

Oh btw the ebay bucks I mentioned also to the rep about that is why buyers aren't buying, and that's when he said that's why they send out coupons....you mean the coupons to get someone to buy something they are totally not interested in. Yeah way to get those sales ebay. Now your competition from other sites is why ebay sales are down. Ebay gives no incentive to the buyers or sellers.

Just found out too that ebay charges a selling fee on the sales tax collected. You know the governments money. Sellers double check the breakdown of your fees in a transaction

Sellers have had enough and ebay and their reps are totally to blame

Do you not read the news?  Not that recent events account for all of the recent drop in sales, but they certainly account for a significant part and thus one should not be flabbergasted.

Re: Whats up with Sales?

Long tail items,  items not in high demand.  I remember seeing stuff like what you sell at a local thrift store and attempting to sell some of the stuff.  eventually I started offering them for target practice.  The thrift store used to periodically purge the stuff from their shelves by dumping huge amounts in the trash.  People these days are eating off of paper plates and drinking out of plastic cups. I think that's part of the problem.

Re: Whats up with Sales?

Essentials seem to be the priority for many people.  High gas prices getting higher, high food costs, high utilities, rent, etc.  It's what's important right now.  Hang in there.

Re: Whats up with Sales?

High inflation, gas prices going up daily, a war going on overseas, stocks volatile and dropping, etc.  People are nervous and are holding on to their money because they need it for essentials.

No, it isn't just you, it is a lot of sellers seeing this.  I typically have 8-10 sales a day.  I have gone the last three days with one sale total.  Between our economy, fuel prices, global issues and the disaster known as eBay management, low to no sales shouldn't be a surprise.  Yes it stinks but it is what it is.

Re: Whats up with Sales?

Tagging on:

IMO the "Usual"   is not so,    usual.     There is no ryme or reason to the sales trends on this site.

I have a daily goal.    A dollar amount that I want to sell that pays my expenses and puts a certain amount

in my bank account at the end of the month.

Here's March so far.    The % of my goals reached each day.

1st    180%

2nd   97%

3rd  289%

4th   152%

5th  102%

6th   54.9%

7th  27.48%

8th   204%

I guess on the 6th and 7th everybody on planet earth decided they were no longer

 interested in collecting stamps.

Then on the 8th,   They realized what they were missing and spent like crazy.

War in Ukraine.   The Price of gasoline,   The cost of groceries,  Electricity,  Heating oil,   The day of the month,  What's on Television,   The weather,    eBay glitches,    The phase of the moon,    How many new listings I made that day,   How many listings renewed,

Any of these things (And more)   will affect our ebay sales.
