This sounds like a personal issue, but are you saying you split up and that's why you have to start over with a new ID? I would think you are entitled to all of your own inventory and he keeps his.

Look on the bright side, if the account is in his name the IRS tax responsibility is his.

Having separate is a good idea. That means when and if a 1099K comes along you both don't argue who's going to get stuck to declare with that to add to their yearly tax returns and who the other one has to pay in cash to the one who added it on their income tax.

take it all 🤣
in a split up doesn't the woman get everything 🤣

I suppose that you could take him to small claims court and have a judge decide on how to split the inventory. Comingling finances when you are single isn't a great idea, as you have learned.

When you ask for advice or help here, you need to give ALL the relevant information.
So I gather you and the boyfriend/selling partner have split up?
Seems to me like a personal issue rather than an eBay issue.

Be grateful you aren't trying to split a house/kids/friends...........

Well, the goods news is that because EBAY account is in his name (he will have all the tax liability from the sales). The bad news is that he wants to keep the inventory (because you co-mingled funds it will be hard to sort out who purchased what items).
Consider yourself lucky you didn't purchase a house together...he sounds like a jerk. Now you are free to establish your own path and see where life leads you. You go girl!

We don’t know any of the details, so hard to say that he is a “jerk.” Maybe he funded the inventory purchases. Maybe she funded inventory but he paid the rent every month. Maybe she did something unforgivable. Maybe he is a jerk, maybe she is a nightmare, maybe it it just a run of the mill breakup. Who knows?
