Re: What's the best way to ship jeans?

Go to the USPS website. On there go to the store and order Flat Rate Priority Bubble Mailers. They come in packages of 10 or 15. They are free and your postman will deliver them to you. If you print your postage online thru Ebay - the cost to mail will be $6.90. I use them for anything over a lb - shoes, mugs, jeans, pants, sweatshirts ect..

In case Tunicalot doesn't return for awhile, I'll tell you to look up FOMO on youtube.   It will give you the basics of shipping breakables (like the mug) in a bubble envelope.

I ship a lot of stuff like that using the FOMO method too.   Have used it for quite a few different breakable items that weigh over a pound when prepared and are still small enough to fit into that envelope.   Have NEVER had anything arrive broken or damaged in any way!

Re: What's the best way to ship jeans?

depending on the size flat rate padded envelope purchase shipping from ebay. some of the plus sizes fit better in a legal size flat rate envelope but you have to put them in a zip lock bag first squeeze out all the air and then work to flatten it out. I've gotten 4 skirts and 2 blouses (all lightweight and size medium) in a legal size FRE that way. Was a bit .....bulgie but it got there.

Tyvek type or Poly bags work well for most clothing.

I box it up with some bubble wrap and make sure something is stuffed inside the mug, like newspaper or cardboard and then slide the box into the envelope.

Paded FRs are my go to.  I can ship a lot in one, including shoes - up to around size 9.  Books that don't qualify for Media Mail.  Metal stuff, knick nacks, and I'm proudest that I packed a military flight jacket in one and shipped it off.

I posted a picture how to on how to pack plus sized jeans and a couple of tees in one a year or so ago.  If the jeans are small and fold flat, I can fit them into a pasteboard FR envelope for a little less.

Retrose,

Thank you so much! I love your ideas and clever ways to get the most bang out of the flat rate mailer.

I imagine it was quite a feat getting a flight jacket into one! Way to go!

Good idea about stuffing the mug from the inside and using a box too.

Thanks, again.gift

Your welcome.

The flight jacket took awhile to get in there.  My Flat Rate footballs are legendary at the PO.

Here is a tip, if you know it's going to be a tight fit and you have a bag or bubble wrapped around the item, like a big fat sweater in a bag,  put a straw down one side of the FR to bent the air out and makes it easier to slide the plastic stuff in, once it's in, pull the straw out.

I gave new meaning to the If it fits, it ships logo.

How does one open one of these footballs without using sharp objects that may cut the items inside also, since it's packed so tightly?

There are a bunch of ways to do it on youtube - but I was watching old videos of a series called Thrift Hunters with Jason Smith - a seller here who is also at Ebay Open and he showed how to do it on the show. He wraps the mug in bubble wrap - with extra on the handle - then cut a piece of cardboard and score it. Place the mug handle at the score and wrap the cardboard around the mug and tape the heck out of it. Put it in the bubble mailer and send it off.

Hope that helps!

Others put the mugs in boxes and place the box in the FRBM - but I've never had a problem doing it the way Jason does it. In the past - I wouldn't have the right size box - I'd use all this packing material and then it weighed over a lb and I got stuck with some higher shipping costs when sending cross country. This works for me and I've had some pretty odd shaped mugs that got thru without a scratch.

Thank you so much for sharing your information.  I have always wondered about using some type of cardboard inside of a padded flat rate mailer. Good job!

If they're going to Hawaii or Tahiti, wear them.
