What's going on with these returns?

Usually when I get a return filed from a buyer I get an email from ebay (and ebay message) that looks like this

That's pretty straightforward and clear. Today I see two new returns filed from the same buyer, but I got an email/message from ebay for each of the returns that has weird verbiage. I assume I got these messages immediately after the buyer filed the returns and nothing prior to that. Take a look.

I've never seen a message like that whenever I get a return. Has anyone else? What's the deal with saying they closed the request? Do they mean the return? Because I see in my Returns page that these two returns are very much still open. And what does that mean about the "service center" (I marked in red)? It says I'm not required to refund the buyer. Yet on the bottom of the message it says to inspect the item and issue a refund.

Has anyone gotten something like this too?

Isn’t that the same excuse that caused the auto-relisting of listings to lag two Thursdays ago? Can devon@ebay or kyle@ebay confirm any of this?

So like too many people are using eBay? Too bad this increase in system activity isn’t affecting any of my sales.

Hey @iamalwaysright will you please send us an email to askcommunity@ebay.com so that we can take a closer look?

Thanks for looking into this kyle@ebay . Perhaps @richard1rst can also send you his examples since he had 2 instances.

To @iamalwaysright - the reply by hartung about increase in system activity appears to be sarcasm.

Hey @iamalwaysright we just received word that this was a known issue and has now been corrected.  Those previous emails were sent in error, and no action is needed.

Got the following response from CS:

I want to inform you that this is a known site issue that our technical team is actively working to resolve. I have added your user ID to the existing tech report to ensure that our team is aware that you are also being impacted.

This message was sent in error and you will still proceed with the return as normal.

So even though it seems these messages were sent in error - I would find it hard to believe someone at eBay randomly created that message for no reason. 😂

I suppose it's possible the "service center" verbiage could refer to the EIS hub and these emails were just sent for some domestic returns when they shouldn't have been, but it also reminded me of discussions from last year around the idea of a Trusted Buyer Program that might give special perks/exceptions on some returns and survey from last year that indicated eBay might have been considering possibly creating a program that would offer free returns for any reason for Motors P&A with a mention of eBay potentially facilitating/liquidating returns like they do for EIS.

Makes me wonder if the error here might have been inadvertently showing a sneak peek at something maybe coming soon? 🤔

@richard1rst

Thanks so much for forwarding the reply you received.   Now I am still somewhat concerned regarding the reply by kyle@ebay :Hey @iamalwaysright we just received word that this was a known issue and has now been corrected.  Those previous emails were sent in error, and no action is needed.

Ok, so the message was sent in error...but what's it going to be......proceed with the return as normal, OR take no action as "none is needed"?

Don’t know if this is relevant to your reply, but I don’t use EIS.
