What is "show original title"?

I ended a listing and then created a new listing via sell similar. On the new listing page the listing title is followed with "-show original title". When mouse hovering over it it displays "Original text, the exact same title". I then edited the listing title and "-show original title" is still there it displays "Original text, the updated title". 

I've never seen this before. Does anyone know its purpose?

Just found an older listing with a 1 letter misspelling. After correcting the listing, the displayed listing always shows the incorrect title with the misspelling.  Any new edits are only displayed in the "Show Original Title". Is eBay going to cover any item not as described cases since eBay is forcing the display of the wrong title?

eBay - no rush on getting this fixed. I'm sure it is easier for me to just end my listing and sell similar if I need to correct my title then for eBay to fix the issue.  Displaying correct title information to buyers is a priority (for me).

eBay forcing the display of incorrect (uncorrected) titles

This should be a PRIORITY for the eBay technical team.

eBay Solution: Call Customer Support. 

I'm not calling support. Other sellers with time on your hands please let me know how customer support helps correct the new eBay changes that prevent the display of corrected titles in some cases.

A buyer just brought this to my attention, I had no idea.  Title looks fine in search results but when you click on the listing the title at the top of the page shows my PRESALE version of the title, with a hyphen and that "show original title" link, which incidentally shows THE CORRECT CURRENT TITLE displayed in the search results.

It's backwards inside the listing: The original title IS displayed by default and the "show original title" link displays the revised title??  Today is Thursday September 8 and this thread was started on August 15....over 3 weeks ago.

It's confusing my buyers, what can be done?

Any updates to this?  It is still not fixed and clearly becoming a larger problem as more sellers discover their listings are affected.

We are seeing this happen on our listings too now.  A few examples:

Both of those items had a title change yesterday, but they are still incorrect.  Show Original Title shows the new revised title not the old original title.

Other than ending the listing and starting a new one with the corrected title, is there a work around?
