I don't understand eBay's obsession with Black Friday this spring...don't they understand that Black Friday is in November? There's another 'Black Friday' sale out now. Just saw this on the homepage:

I still think it is due to this being the end of the 1st quarter.
Or, maybe their 'Happy It Is Spring' dance, ala Snoopy.

That's another one limited to only 100 MegaMega Sellers.

I believe it's the end of their quarter, hence all the coupons, eBay buck bonuses, etc. Calling it another "Black Friday" seems ridiculous. Someone pointed out, on a previous thread, that the original meaning of "Black Friday" comes from a date where business got out of the red and began reporting profits.

Retailers also know that Christmas is in December, but that does not stop them from advertising "Christmas in July" sales.
Black Friday is another name for Good Friday - they are using this as a play on words and trying to invent a new shopping holiday.

Afternoon,
This NEW holiday...an obsession with a new sales weekend, is pretty tacky when it falls on the very weekend of the death and Resurrection of the man that said:
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
For many, this man who said these words, is the Son of God.

Almost like the tacky obsession with Christmas by almost every retailer in the country.

Couldn't Agree more...having one is bad enough.

Edit: p.s. and for those wondering, we have never sold products geared towards Christmas to cash in on this Holy event.

I am loving all the coupons and savings.
I could not care less what ebay calls it if it means I am saving money.
If it bothers you, just do not shop here this week.

Hi Emerald,
I am not here to tell anyone what to do or remotely try to persuade them and I sure you know that.
Yet I would hold this true for other faiths if folks tried to turn those sacred events into a capitalistic event.
For the record, my last purchase here was the 27th.

Well, when would you rather get out of the red into the black: March 31 or November 26?

Did people shop here on Rosh Hashana? What about Yum Kippur.
I did not log on those days, but I am sure many others did.

Hi Emerald,
I am sure they did...but I was not aware that ebay was hosting a special sales event linked to those days...if so I would have never shopped either out of respect to my many Jewish friends.
