So eBay has said buyers are responsible for editing all their listings from First Class shipping and their won't be an automatic conversion and that they have 30 days to do so. What happens after we hit the 30 day mark in the next 1-2 weeks? Will my listings just end? Will they be hidden? I can't find any clarification anywhere on what the consequences would be.

eBay just came out today in their monthly chat that no worries we have til the end of the year to have all the listing changed over. Not true as per the USPS and has come out and said the by 9/30/2023 they will no longer process First Class mail of any type. Once again eBay has no clue as what the real world is doing only their perception of it. Get it done by 9/30.

They still didn't spell out what will actually happen to the listings. I guess they don't know. Since ebay is printing out 1st class as ground advantage on the labels, I doubt USPS will care. Ebay seems confused. They extend our deadline, but give no details.
I also felt they were completely dismissive of your post and costs.

There is no trouble with the labels......sellers just select GA.......in fact I think (not sure), even if you chose First class, the label will print as GA.............. Ebay is worried about the LISTING showing first class to the buyer......which is easily handled by just stating USPS has melded first class into Ground Advantage, if a buyer asks.

Not true! Only First Class PACKAGES will no longer be processed as such, but need to go by GA. First Class Large Envelopes/Flats will still be processed as First Class. The following is from the USPS Website:
You’ll need to pay the Ground Advantage price if you have a large First-Class Mail envelope that is:
- Rigid (can't bend)
- Non-rectangular (square, or taller than it is wide)
- Not uniformly thick (lumpy)
- Longer than 11 and 1/2", higher than 6 and 1/8”, or thicker than 1/4".
Also from the USPS Website:
Large Envelopes (flats) Treated as Small Packages
Large First-Class envelopes (flats) that exceed maximum dimensions or are rigid, non-rectangular, or not uniformly thick are charged package prices and shipped with USPS Ground Advantage.
Large Envelopes/Flats that don't fall under the above restrictions will still be able to go by the very cost-effective First Cass Large Envelope/Flat designation.
If you have a statement from the USPS that says they will no longer process First Class of any type, I'd like to see where you saw it. If that were true, it would adversely affect a few hundred of my listings and cause me to not sell them at the FC Large Envelope/Flat rate. I'm sending them now, and the labels have a big "1" in the top left corner, which is a separate rate and designation from "G". I think it is reasonable to assume the USPS will be keeping the FC Large Envelope/Flat rate, along with FC Letter.
Cheers, Duffy

Listings which have not been updated will probably show something like "Shipping not specified". You can't just coast along on the fact that LABELS got updated immediately.
@nobody*s_perfect t I understand that's the point. But quite a few people in this thread are confusing the two.

Yes I know you are correct. I was being too general. First Class Package, Media Mail, and Parcel Select no longer exist. I should have included flats as First Class mail is called in the business will stay the same.

@fern*wood wrote:I just scanned the chat and must say, I'm not surprised with the non-answers. I didn't see anyone ask (may have missed it) what will happen to listings that don't update their listings. I just saw a canned response that they will give sellers till the end of the year to update, but no info as to what happens to them then. They also said they are looking for solutions. This was a known change for months before it happened, and now months after it happened, they have no real solution.
I thought simply-the-best was talking about the verbiage some sellers put in their description about how they ship. I may have misunderstood, if they were talking about the actual shipping method offered in the shipping section of their listing. It doesn't look like they have updated that.
@fern*wood No, I was referring to the verbiage that Ebay puts in, based on the selection of FC. They have NOT updated it. That's the whole point.

@fern*wood EXACTLY. They have not said what will happen. B/C they don't know what will happen. They haven't decided what to do about it. Which I don't understand, but the code is quite simple.

As I just answered, I was too general. In my world only packages exist in your its flats. Packages go, flats stay.

But the point is that you should be worrying about it because sooner or later something will happen to those listings which offer First Class package shipping. You aren't going to be able to just leave First Class package there indefinitely.

I thought we were told that 1st class will go away in our listings and buyers will have to contact us for postage info if we haven't updated them. Maybe the chat will clear this up.
@fern*wood I think you misunderstood what I was saying & to the best of my knowledge, Ebay has not said that. B/C they haven't said anything about what will happen (cuz they don't know). I do NOT believe FC will go away in our listings, nor do I believe buyers will have to contact us. They would really shoot themselves in the foot if they did that.
I believe from a systems POV, that they will either create the code to make the change, which fixes this mess (and is pretty simple code) or the status quo will continue & the labels will continue to print correctly. I am fine with the status quo. I don't really care & I can't imagine my buyers do, that the verbiage may read FC. All I care is that the label prints right. And it does. Therefore I believe the first time there will be a problem with the current status quo (as of today, Ebay may change it tmw) will be when there is a rate increase. Obviously, any change or fix Ebay may implement can affect that.
I also believe that Ebay has no idea what they're going to do, which has been evidenced by all the ridiculous errors that they have made here, starting with the announcement to tell people they had 30 days PRIOR to 7/9 to change it, but never making that broadly known, which was ultimately a good thing, b/c they didn't realize that users could NOT MAKE THE CHANGE until the GA product was live! It's as though the people who wrote that, had no idea how the shipping system works. How could they possibly not have known that? Then the fiasco of multiple supposed deadlines & many other errors, compounded the original error & now they aren't saying much of anything LOL. I hope that means they are still trying to implement a fix.
