When I put a new winner in my "Ignore List" what do they see when they go to my listing? Anything?
Do they know they've been disinvited? Can they tell?
Or, is all of my inventory invisible from the get-go? From the search list?

If a blocked buyer askes CS ...................... CS will spill the beans and tell the buyer that they have been blocked.
Yes that's true (about CS). You just have to say "I can't purchase this item, can you help me or tell me why I can't purchase it?" and they'll share that the buyer is BBL'd.
Also a blocked buyer can't send or answer any messages... they don't know the messages aren't going through. I tested this a while ago with @lacemaker3 who had a valid purchase from me a month early (we were testing if blocking would immediately stop messages or if buying something would allow messages to go through).

Here's the thread from when we tested this ... you can see what the messages looked like in the message center for me (perfectly normal, as though they were sent) but @sin-n-dex didn't receive anything. They didn't appear after I was unblocked, either, only I could see them.

@lacemaker3 It's probably in that thread but I don't have time to read through it again right now: was the seller who had blocked the buyer in that test able to send messages to the blocked buyer, or did it prevent them from sending the messages?

Before Covid, when there were reps- if a seller blocked a buyer and buyer called in, a rep would CALL THE SELLER and ask them to 'remove them from you BBL list' (in which I would say "No, and here's why (I keep a list of every buyer name, id, street, city, state and reason)).
Glad that doesn't happen anymore.

Too bad sellers can't add to or revise that message. 😉

Wow. That’s…I’m having a hard time comprehending that.

No, since I couldn't see your messages I didn't have anything to reply to. (At least to the best of my knowledge I sent no messages while you were blocked).
However I did have an unhappy buyer who left me a neg and I blocked him, and I sent him messages with instructions on how to file a return (hoping if he returned it, which is what it seemed he wanted to do, he would revise the neg). He followed all my directions but I never saw messages from him since I'd blocked him (and didn't know at the time this also blocked messages). I'm assuming he saw my messages because he followed my directions. I think I messaged him 3 times through the process, and his actions seemed to be responding, don't know if he sent me a message, I didn't see it. So I would say if someone is on your BBL and you're not on theirs, you can still message them and they'll see it.

@sin-n-dex, we didn't discuss this, as far as I can remember, and I didn't think you had tried messaging me. But I didn't know, so I figured I should ask.
@wastingtime101, you have done similar tests, do you know the answer to this?

@lacemaker3 I know you asked one question, but I'll answer a few in case it helps others.
When Buyer is on Seller's Blocked Buyer List:
- Seller can message Buyer and it will go through as normal. If Buyer replies, Seller will not see it.
- Buyer can message seller and on Buyer's end it appears to go through as normal, but Seller will not receive it and Buyer will think Seller is ignoring them even though Seller has no idea messages were sent. Messages will appear in sender's messages folder, but not in recipient's messages folder.
- If Seller unblocks Buyer, messages sent during the duration of the block remain as they are - Seller will not receive them after unblocking.
If Buyer is also a seller and the Seller is also on the Buyer's blocked list then neither party's messages will go through to each other, even though the messages will still appear in the sender's messages folder.

@wastingtime101, thanks, great summary.

@tobaccocardyahoo Buyer can answer but the Seller will NOT see it.

@jonathanbrightlight well; ebay has everyone's phone number so it's easy for them to call you, the seller, and ask you to 'temporarily remove the buyer from your list' (which was a huge waste of time for that rep because once I've decided I don't want to do business with that liar, thief or overall bad person- I wasn't EVER about to 'change my mind'.....which I told the 'rep').
