What are your Goals and Plans for January 2022?

New Year's Day is all about setting Resolutions - things we want to change or improve about ourselves or our situation in life.  So... what are your plans and goals for January 2022, in particular, and for the year 2022 in general?  Are you moving on/out?  Planning to expand?  Staying the course or plotting a new route?

So let us know what your thoughts are, and then please come back a few times after that to share how well you've been doing or what's had to change to accommodate the reality that change is a part of life.

My plan for January is to continue getting organized and continue listing more of my old PC stock and downsizing my storage needs.  My plan is to invest some of the profits from selling my old PC stock into new rack units for use in the rental storage space - larger (so they can hold more), on wheels (so I can move things around and maximize the square footage), and metal (so no more collapsing particle board shelves and bowed frames).

If I can get that accomplished, a follow-up plan would be to begin accepting old PC equipment, that people want to throw out, for recycling and reuse.  Trying to keep usable electronics out of the dump and getting it back into use where newest/fastest/bleeding edge components are not required.  And to stay in the black while doing so.

I am hoping to get sales tax numbers together.  Starting to learn what an abomination the Managed Payments reports are.  Its like a rock in a coma designed them using a rusty typewriter with no paper. 

Then work more on diversifying away from eBay.

I spent December trying to attract attention by posting, on a daily basis, some frankly irrelevant postings (Today is National *** Day) followed by a whimsical comment and picture. My attempt was to add some good cheer during the holidays. Regrettably the moderators seem to have not been amused and quickly shunted them off to an obscure part of the board. As such they didn’t seem to get the views I had hoped. So I won’t be doing that anymore.

Additionally I need to spend some time and effort biting my tongue. There are some really stupid posts and questions on these boards and you just want to pat them on the head and say “there there dear boy - everything will be all right. You’ll understand when you get older/wiser.” But some times they are so asinine that a full on blistering sarcastic retort, although impermissible, is called for. (I got banned for 3 days once for referring to a poster by using a common, albeit a somewhat derogatory, term which defines an eight sided ice crystalline figure of which no two are alike.) But he was so whiny that he deserved it.

Need to watch that.

One way of course is to spend less time reading these boards.

Good morning!

Typical goals of cleaning up and getting organized.  A room a month, plus a number per month of things listed from the barns and cabins.  

One thing some of my girlfriends and I are doing here (we are all older girls) is we are tackling a few things outside our usual area of listing comfort.  We all have things laying around the house that we didnt specifically get to self-care with something, given to us, was a deceased relative, and its outside our usual type of thing to list.  Somethings outside our normal comfort zone.  And seem to get shunted aside and now are clogging up our clean up organization efforts.  We all made a list of 1 item and listed it.  First person to sell got a "prize" .  It's been a fun way to shove an old lady out of her nest.

For example:  one listed sheet music-sold all 5 listing.  One listed a few of her deceased husbands fishing lures.  She spent hours looking them up and pricing.  All 5 listed and sold.  She had lovely conversations with these guys and one sent her pictures of his boat and his fish trophies. It was pretty cute to watch him flirt with her and gave us old girls something to talk about.  I sold some car parts that had been sitting on a shelf for 45 years.  So now I have a shelf to put something on.  It forced us to venture a bit outside our zone of comfort and dust off a few brain cells.  

Always try something new!  It keeps you young!

My     #1 resolution is to keep on top of my book keeping for tax purposes.    MPs are not much help.   As usual letting somebody else keep track would be a mistake.

2. Be finally finished retaking thousands of pictures I already took and writing up listings I've already written (virus)

3.  Sell more I hope.

4.  Sell more Scuba Gear for my husbands store

And last, get healthy.  Cancer and Chemo are done next week and I need to get healthy and be able to breath better while moving.  Chemo might have something to do with that though.

I've been away for several months. Been busy listing a bunch of stuff. I'm closing in on 50,000 listings, currently at 48,000 between my 2 stores. I threw up 28,000 new listings during the last 2 weeks. No idea what to expect sales wise, but I'd like to set goal to 800 items. Hoping to get it up to 75,000 before the end of January.
