Christmas shopping is upon us! What are your plans to maximize your sales, or are you just going to 'go with the flow'? Have your sales picked up or not yet recovered? And what thoughts have you given to 2022?
Inquiring minds would like to know!

December is likely to be my last coasting month. I've got most of my Christmas stock listed - just a few more items to go and then it's just sell & ship time.
Sales did pick up some in November, but I also changed up my listing mix and that may have had an impact as well.
2022 is still in flux. I have a potential re-return to programming pending the start of the new year. I have to finish emptying my stuff from the house. Youngest is getting more serious about moving out, and that means we can finally sell the place, freeing up income for both of us.
I'm not planning on leaving eBay any time soon, but that's not always entirely up to the individual. 🙂

EASY TO FIND FOR DECEMBER THIS EARLY IN DECEMBER.
I DO NOT EXPECT TO TO SELL MUCH WITH SELLING AFTER DECEMBER 15...
I HAVE BOUGHT ALL MY BOUGHT. I TELL YOU WHAT I BOUGHT AFTER CRISTMAS. IT SHOULD MAKE EVERY BODY.

Bob, fingers crossed on the possible programming position, and the younger moving so you can sell the house.
My November sales beat last year's November sales, which was surprising because the beginning of the month started out pretty slow.
I had some days at the end of the month that had good numbers. I hope the beginning of December is strong because it will fizzle towards the middle of the month.
So for November, I ended around 370/300.
My December goal will be to just hit 250 sales. I didn't get all of the stuff I wanted listed before the holiday season and time is running out. I guess there is always next year.
I forgot if Yme said 200 or 250 for a goal, but I think it was 200.
Let's hope we end December with good numbers!

December goal #1
Attack my death pile aka maxi-universe empire.
December goal #2
Source nothing more. (I got two things today, one was committed to before reality hit)
No more sourcing, not even 'free stuff' from work.
December goal #3
Take a breather from Dec 17th to after Christmas and put store on vacation. Get all my existing listings in shape and keep doing more new items. Then relist/list.

I ended last month at 24/20. Selling more everyday items than Christmas so not listing anymore Christmas items. I have sold 1 so far this month. Will set goal at 15. However I will be listing some other items other than dinnerware. We found a bag of some of my Dad's hunting/army items. I will start listing those items, plus found over 50 fishing lures. I will have to do some research on those. Plus will continue to list glassware and dinnerware. I am trying to focus on one pile at a time or one tote at a time.
Postcard-sounds like you have a good plan in place.
Downright-glad you surpassed your goal from last year. Let's all hope we have a strong December!
Everybody have a great weekend. This week flew by!

I'm trying to do much the same - whittle away at what's been accumulating, stop adding more, and take a break.
1 - I've sold three rebuilt computers now, so that's a very good thing. Will be delivering the 3rd today (Saturday 12/4), so that exciting. Love local sales -- no shipping, no returns. 🙂
2 - I've gotten a lot better at this. However, I did slip up Friday, but with good reason. Local seller had listed an open PC frame, motherboard, and hard drive from what he says was a build he gave up on. Part of me says the 'good stuff' is going to be dead and I'm just buying a very expensive workbench frame. Another part thinks the frame and drive are going to be good, so I'll break even. But the optimist in me (he's kinda puny but speaks up every now and then) says I'm going to get a free frame, a free WD Black drive, and sell that mobo to cover everything and then some. 🙂
3 - Vacation from Dec 25 thru Jan 1. Both the holidays are days off anyway (unpaid, but good to be home), so it will really be Sat, Dec 25 thru Sun, Jan 2 - returning to work Mon, Jan 3. A whole week to relax, putter with the last few functional computers, and even spend some time sorting the stuff in storage to get rid of the junk and better organize what it kept and box up what is to be sold/donated.
I like this plan!

I gave spent the past month getting all the request specifics entered. I know a lot of posters are gripping about them and I understand that. But, that said, I am of the opinion (with nothing to really back it up) that eBay's search algorithm will give preference to listings with all the specifics as opposed to those that do not.
I now have all of my listings converted to free shipping. Same logic as above.
As for 2022 - I do not have any faith in the current administration so I will not be doing any significant buying until after the 2022 elections. And only then based on the results. On the other hand I did purchase about double or so my normal inventory earlier this year planning to use the extra inventory as a hedge against what I saw as the coming inflation.
I plant to be more active on these boards as a way of drawing attention to my account. Yes, I know only a limited number of people see these boards. But if I do nothing then I miss even them.

Coming off of November and a record high for me in one-month sales. I have a lot of momentum; December is off to a good start. I came close to a $4000.00 month. My average is $2000.00. Can December hit 4k??

i have had 5 items sold. i think i will have anything after the 15 of December
I should go on vacation from the 16 of December to January 2nd. I doubt I will take a break.

The photo above is Billi....our new family member. We lost Thomas the Cat and Abigail the Yorkie in the past couple of months and the wife and I said we may not get another pet. Well that lasted all of three days. Billi we believe is a 3 yr old Australian Shepherd mix. We got her from an individual and she is a real blessing. Well trained and well behaved. Probably take me all of a couple of months to ruin all of that. LOL
Questions: Has anyone found the reason why our thread here keeps getting posted with the "widget" message and we have to work around it? Is there an easy fix? Perhaps something as simple as changing the title? Has anyone asked eBay about this? Sounds like a nice project for Bob since we has all that free time. LOL
Sales are good....strong. Lots of small stuff and several big $100 plus sales. But that is to be expected this time of years since it is yard sale season for sure down here. In the Summer there are not enough sales and this time of year there are too many. Normal stuff.
Got a good 6 month help report Friday. I go through the "ringer" from the docs every 6 months. With my health history it is an anxious time when I visit the doctor for the test results. So..........wheeeeee.....all is good and I can put it all out of my mind until next June.
Everyone have a great holiday season. Me and my family are truly blessed and I hope all of you can say the same. Today is church day and I cannot wait to see how the church is decorated this year.
Onward and upward....

"help report" in my post above should read "health report." Writing posts too early without enough coffee to be wide awake.

Richard -
As a postcard seller I can tell you why there are complaints.....
The two "new" categories were implemented without any definition. The terms being used "topographical" and "non-topographical" are not commonly used in the US. Two of the three links to help with the definition were UK sites.
I would say a good number of the 'new' recommendations were already there as category or subcategory. Yet eBay did not fill them in.
Postcards were circulated (Y or N) and the US definition Posted/unposted was dropped. But later added in after much carrying on.
The Brand/publisher new specific isn't really new - it was in existence at one time. However, eBay folks have insisted the drop list is the same as it always was. 43 out of 45 names are non-American companies. I now get to list them and tag an eBay rep so they can figure out what needs to be added!
Continent is new. At least it could have accurate information in the drop down.....Central America is not a continent.
Recommended under non-topographical - Artist and Occasion. For every non-top card including ships, airplanes and trains.
Even after reporting it repeatedly.....eBay still thinks Vintage Ads can be in the colors blue or green or yellow. But not black and white.
If I had to put in ones that made sense, it wouldn't be so bad. But when they want ridiculous information fixing 4,000+ listings moves beyond just a pain in the neck.

None for this December. But maybe, next December? I can have a life, not be sick and not sell online full time. I can hope.
