Hi Guys!
Curiosity has finally propelled me to ask this essential question:
Why does swiping through enlarged listing photos on eBay frequently show a gif of an array of blinking mirrors for a few seconds?
I’ve seen this gif many times, on many sellers’ listings, but it doesn't happen on every listing, nor between every photo. Is it simply a cheeky “vintage” equivalent of the data*loading*circle? 🔄
I would think those people sensitive to blinking lights might really dislike this.
See the (freeze-frame) screenshot below (it shows between photos of one of my own listings, which is why you see the mini previews, below it.)
Ideas?

I get that when my connection is slow.

I get that too.
Have you tried posting on the technical issues board?

It looks like an "image loading" icon, which indicates that the picture you want to see has not finished transferring to your device yet.

Yep.
With 2.5 Mbps DSL, it's a familiar sight for me.
OP, reload the page. If it persists, reboot your modem and/or router. If it continues to persist, do a DNS flush. (Google it, it's easy). For me this solves the problem 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time I just have to wait for my internet to re-enter the land of the living.

That is indicative of a slow connection or connection issue on your end.
If you have regular speed /data package from your carrier-you should contact them to let them know you are having issues. If you are on a limited speed or data package then that is to be expected sometimes.
Personally I shut pages that flash, are noisy, or take too long to load. Limited patience these days...

Thanks, All!
Consensus is that it’s just a slow connection.
That sounds about right.
No limited speed here, unless having pretty much the whole town working from home/schooling online, causes slowness on the network.
Why the choice of creepy mirrors though?

Yep, on my iPad the image is big - full iPad screen if one has enlarged the listing photos.
looks very ‘twilight zone’, IMO
