Webinar: The Future of Payments- did anyone watch or list a question?

I listed some questions and all did not show in the listed questions forms and as of now, only 7 handpicked questions were listed and I do not think they were addressed.

I asked about when funds would be available to sellers.

I asked what was the fee ebay?Adyen would be charging and was that fee standard for everyone.

I asked if not standard what were the tiers.

It seems as if the only answered the softball questions.

Mine also didn't show. I have a feeling only those with brandlive accounts actually showed.

My question was if ebay would only allow sellers to have one selling account, since they eluded to ONE selling account several times.

They kind of beat around the bush as far as funds availability, only using terms like "predictable" and "timely". They did say that funds would be deposited to bank accounts, with other possibilities in the future.

Re: Webinar: The Future of Payments- did anyone watch or list a question?

I watched/listened.  None of the answers submitted during the webcast were address.  Only a few were fielded at all, and those seemed really generic.

All in all, I got three things out of the 38 minutes:  This will allegedly be a very slow and careful roll-out,  everything will be handled by eBay on eBay (including how and when sellers get their monies), and it's all about the "experience".

Re: Webinar: The Future of Payments- did anyone watch or list a question?

I watched, but didn't list a question, as most of my questions were listed by others. The only question I feel that they actually ANSWERED was that the funds will go from Ebay directly to a bank account.

The rest of it was mainly platitudes with intermittent "Awesome!" from the 1 guy.

I think the bottom line will be: it will be like Amazon payments, only with an Ebay nametag

Re: Webinar: The Future of Payments- did anyone watch or list a question?

My question didn't show either.  I wanted to know if buyers would be required to pay immediately (like on other sites), and also wanted to know how long it would take for the funds to appear in the seller's bank account.  This is the first time I've watched an ebay webinar and it kind of reminded me of a rerun of "The Office."

I missed the webinar but I see that they said funds will go to a bank account. Did they say whether or not the seller gets the funds immediately? Wonder what this means for sellers who don’t have a bank account. And don’t want to get one or can’t get one.

I think they admit they don't have the details worked out......don't know what the fees will be, etc.....which is understandable.........

To me the biggest interesting thing was how many times they wanted to reassure us they will "get it right"........Sigh......when ebay themselves has to reassure everyone that they won't screw things up, you have to realize that they KNOW all the problems that are happening and how fed up sellers are with it.

More like I think the bottom line will be: it will be like Amazon payments, only Ebay will totally mess it up (as per SOP)

They danced around the actual timeframes of funds release, using generic terms like "expedient" and "transparency". I'm thinking they aren't going to commit to anything until the rollout.

Amazon payments is no picnic either and Amazon's selling fees are extraordinary.
I'm optimistic with Ebay payments, but not dumb enough to assume it'll go smoothly...especially bcz in the webinar, they took a question regarding seller protections, and went on a diatribe about buyer protections. I guess the answer lies in that..a continued buyer-centric platform with little to no seller protections.

Re: Webinar: The Future of Payments- did anyone watch or list a question?

I watched and turned it off after 15 minutes.  After 2 minutes I concluded it was going to have little content and simply be a platform for eBay to tell us how great they are and spin this as some great policy for sellers.  It will likely be just as great as their choice to remove the seller's ability to leave negative feedback.

I know no more about the future of payments today than I did when this was first announced.  Bottom line is that it does not matter because it is happening whether we like it or not.  We need them more than they need us.

I don't know about all that, but they did seem to emphasize knowledge that sellers need access to their $$, because it's working capital. We'll see. I'm totally not looking at this as doom, gloom and immorality. I'm taking a "wait and see" attitude, but will keep up on updates and voice my concerns.

Re: Webinar: The Future of Payments- did anyone watch or list a question?

Other than funds going into a bank account I didn’t learn anything either.  They must not want to share details yet or else they don’t actually know the details yet but either way, why have a webinar without any new information.

Yes, there really was little by way of actual substantial content. You pretty much nailed it.
