We are testing a reduced set of item specifics in the listing flow

We’ve heard from our sellers that item specifics is one of the most complex parts of our listing experience.

As a part of simplifying the listing flow, we are testing a reduced set of item specifics, optimized for the selling and buying experience. As a result, in select categories, some sellers may see fewer item specifics to fill out when creating a new listing on web or mobile. We’re actively monitoring performance and taking seller feedback into consideration.

We’re constantly evaluating how to make listing on eBay easier and will keep you informed about any site-wide listing changes. Feel free to leave feedback in a comment below or via our survey during the listing process.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

Update as of 10/16/23:

Thank you to all sellers who shared their feedback. We have listened to your concerns and ended the test. We will continue to work on improving item specifics and keep the community informed of any site-wide changes.

The full list of item specifics will automatically reflect on your account for future listings. If you wish to add more item specifics to your previously published listings, the full list of item specifics is available when you revise your listing.

Re: We are testing a reduced set of item specifics in the listing flow

I agree as well however it is ebays way of herding you into promoted(read that as costing you more) listings....why would I pay twice for the same service? I signed up to sell product and not have ebay hinder sales....it is on ebay to promote the platform as a whole and not to only those select buyers who fall for the promoted scheme.....

I am also very pleased with the faster listing. Faster and flowing to work without getting tripped up by item specifics constantly.  Thanks.

Re: We are testing a reduced set of item specifics in the listing flow

When ebay tinkers, my sales drop to zero. The disruptive changes will result will be fewer experienced sellers over time. A seemingly insignificant little change like hiding customer reviews in search results , can destroy 100's if not 1000's of businesses.

Re: We are testing a reduced set of item specifics in the listing flow

Realizing I'm late to the party but "Does not apply" "Unknown" and/or "N/A" should be an option for all drop down menus or at least be allowed to manually enter one of those choices in item specifics. Reason being is not all items have a character, belong to a character family, or franchise. Often times the item being listed is used and there is no way to obtain the manufacture date.

@chowpit36iw

It's been said many times by both ebay and sellers that........if the IS don't pertain to the item.......leave the IS blank (except for the required IS). Do NOT choose unknown/not applicable.  Reason being......you may/can end up with a large number of not applicable IS in the IS table which makes no sense.

Re: We are testing a reduced set of item specifics in the listing flow

And so it continues!

We have noticed today that for any items in our Seller Manager Pro Inventory that are over 3 years old, the item specifics that were previously filled out have all disappeared!

All that is now shown is EAN (see picture below).

Anyone else having this issue?specifics.jpg
