I know it's ebay, and you can ask what price you want. But how can some people get away asking outrageous overpriced items? For example a seller is trying selling a little piece of moose hide, 3ftx18" for $900. I contacted them to ask if that was for real, and the were very arrogant about the price. You can buy full hides for under $400 from numerous tanneries. Just seams like bad business practices. Then they message me telling my they sold a bunch of them on ebay. Too funny, because not one listed on their sales record. What a joke this seller is.

How were you aware of the post?
Quote from somethinguneek's initial post:
Lowkre-60 has no sense of humor and he said" Very arrogant of you. I'll make sure to reflect that on the ebay forum".
Could be what drew him here, came looking for it.

It is none of your business what prices sellers put on their items and it certainly isn't your concern about what you consider a seller's "bad business practices"; that, too, is none of your business.
If there is a price you don't like, you move on and find one that is to your liking. You gain nothing (other than being put on a seller's block list) by messaging a seller and asking them if a price is "for real". That's just showing YOUR arrogance, like you think you know more than they do. Also, you do not know how many accounts a seller has (many have multiple accounts on eBay or many sell on multiple online venues) so you have no way of knowing how many items a seller has sold or where they have sold them.

lowkre-60, meet the invisible hand of the free market.
Invisible hand of the free market, meet lowkre-60.
OK, now kiss.

May or may not be a stunt.
The sellers attitude towards this either way puts me off.
I have seen the sellers listings several times as I'm in the market for different unusual leathers. I don't need an overly defensive seller if a buy doesn't go as planned for whatever reason.
I'll just scratch them off my list as a possible source........................

Most stores put their high priced items out for people to see and it brings them in to look at more affordable items. It is a good concept. I have a couple items which are rare and priced high that I don't intend to sell. Because they are one of a kind with no comparable who is to say. They have people watching the item though.

Exactly. Defensive, arrogant, and I don't for one second believe this whole thing about a dumb little scrap of moose pelt being their store's showcase other-items-sales-getter. Silliest thing I ever heard.

Did you complain to the department store about putting their overpriced merchandise in the window to lure customers in? Then when you walk in they show you the more affordable items and make a sale.
11-23-2025 03:32 PM
Yes. Instead of me looking further I usually see an overpriced item and right or wrong assume all their items are probably overpriced. Sometimes I'll look further in case the seller just thinks an item I find in a search is worth way more than it is but only if the item is very unusual which moosehide is not. Snapping turtle maybe..........................................

The 'free' market does not really exist - we're all in someone's playground.
"What the market will bear" may be more to the point.

Because it is about me

Actually, my experience is actually the opposite -- local appliance store advertises a bare bones pretty nice name brand fridge for $399.99; however, when I go into the store, the salesman says that they had just a few of those and they are all sold, so how about the $459.99 model, which they apparently have plenty of?

Well lets see interesting reply, first it was this guy who contacted me about the moose hide because he did not like it. My sense of humor has done me well over the years the problem again is not with me but this guy who took offense because one of my items in his mind was too high. So he told me in the private email he was going to report me to ebay and in the forums as if I would be scared. Well guess what because of his post I made a couple of sells of it. so good for me.

So lowkre-60 is NOT a buyer, he is just some dud who came across my store and did not like the fact I was selling a moose hide for $900. He said that he was going to report me to ebay and in the forums. Now you know why I responded to to defend myself but to show how dum this whole thing is just because he did not like my $900 price tag. So yea he is NOT a buyer or will ever be for that matter. Just someone who has nothing better to do then complain about the world.
