Watchers on eBay listings

There should be an option for sellers not to see the watchers on their listings. It’s more annoying than it does good. No I don’t want to send them an offer cause they want it for next to nothing. I’m just tired of seeing 5-6 watchers on buy it now listing for weeks, I wish I could just bump them off.

I too wish eBay never started this “Send your buyers an offer”. Rarely do they buy the item. Buyers just waiting for an offer to be sent and hoping they can get it for nothing!

Also, why send an offer when it may be another seller watching just to see what it sells for?

I set  an item with a Buy it Now price and sometimes add Make an Offer. But this “send an offer” has ruined sales for sellers. Buyers are expecting offers to be sent. I believe eBay created a problem. I guess Buy it Now with Make an offer wasn’t good enough.

I find the best way to eliminate most of the watchers is to end all the items with watchers once per quarter.  Wait a week and relist them with appropriate tweaks so they might sell rather than be watched.  Like clockwork once all the watched items are ended the emails start coming in asking if a particular item is still for sale.  I generally relist those items at a higher price or with shipping if the shipping was free.  I would never hide the watched category.

I have the exact Opposite experience.

Most every offer I send is a Sale!

And I wish ebay would send my mobile  app EVERY item i have watchers in One day. I have over 300+ items with watchers.

I would clean up.

Please eBay this is the item i need 😎

It appears your listings are Buy it Now with Make an Offer and some are Auction listings. We are talking about Buy it Now listings that have no Make an Offer and have watchers that just watch with no intention of buying unless the item is rock bottom price and basically sold for nearly nothing. If the item is listed again, they hang on and watch again….no sale. Sales have dropped because of this. eBay doesn’t care what it sells for, they just want their cut. Sellers do care what they sell an item for. Selling has changed, there’s many factors that have made it harder as well. Hikes in shipping and fees. But it’s good to hear things are working for you.

You're not on your own. It may seem harmless to the buyer who just wants to watch an item to see how it sells. But for me I find it annoying. A poster here said to relist but it's not the answer. My item within a few days had 5 watchers. I send a 10% discount and no reply. I ask myself "why are you bothering"?

I delete them relist. Its 5 days in and i have 9 watchers. Again send them offers. One responded with a counter offer that so low it was a major insult. I offer free shipping on top and if I had accepted, I would have been out of pocket with the ridiculous ebay fees and shipping costs.

I just want to boot the watchers off my listing, they also give false hope of a sale.

That's not my experience at all.   I get about 2 purchases for every 10 offers I send & my offers are for a minimal discount.   I love Send an Offer!  But I do not allow counters & I don't have BO on my listings.

OP, as dhbook said, you can remove the column from Seller Hub by customizing your page.  You'll still see them when you go into the item.

Watchers watch. If you want to sell then lower the price for all to see. Do not use seller-offer to a select curious few who are watching (usually with no intent to buy). Plus that seller offer goes to all your watchers even people on your bid block list that you may be forced to sell to. I like watchlist as a seller. It gives me an idea of how many are interested. Bonanza has no watchers and so i have no idea of interest there. If i have multiple watchers i can lower the price a dollar and often sell it then.
