I had a buyer ask me to cal him in his first message sent. I told him that's against the rules and didn't respond after that.
2 weeks later I get a warning from eBay... here's the screenshot.
If another memeber decides to do this will I get another warning or possibly a ban for something I didn't do?

Ah, guilt by association. Gotta love the pinheads that set these systems up without taking context into account.

Wow ! I am sorry you have to deal with this stress. Just no reason for it. I guess they are so worried about their fees, they flag any correspondence. This must be why they took the ask a seller a question link off of listings.
Certainly doesnt help sales or customer service. Sometimes a buyer needs to ask a question before they buy. Not sure why this buyer wanted you to call him, but you responded appropriately, that should be the end of that.
I have a friend who also sells on ebay several states away. We very often use the ask a seller a ? link to chit chat, since we are both on here quite often. Guess i will be next.
With a lot of sellers seeing decreasing revenue, these ever changing policys won't help buyers or sellers stick around. Just not fun anymore, I long for the good old days but I know they are gone.

What Porpoise is this supposed to serve? 2 weeks?!? IF you were going to sell out side of eBay.... it would already be long over before you received the warning..... and since you weren't going to sell outside of eBay, and handled it properly the 2 week old warning for something you handled as instructed is just more off putting and insulting.... putting eBay in an even more adversarial role with their selling partners....
those darn Vaquita...... harsh taskmasters.... but playful
There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy.

this seems to get out of control.
would calling ebay about it make a difference?
does ebay sends such a msg to the buyer, as well?
i bet not.
couldn't ebay find a way to block msgs with phone #s?
very long ago (very... probably years) i had tried to email my email address to a buyer for whatever reason.
the msg got blocked because of the email address.
it sucks that a seller gets blamed because of a buyer's doing.
the worst is that it is retroactive.

I understand both parties get that message if one of you asks for a call.
If you care to, be proactive and call CS and have them read the messages, and note it on your account that you responded appropriately and in accordance withe Ebay rules.
Get the rep's name and the conversation number and retain for possible use in the future.

Ask Seller a question is gone, but there is a contact seller link at the top right, under the ebay user id of the seller.

AFAIK, both parties get a message.

You need to remove this from your listings as ebay explained it to me you are trying to solicit off site transactions.... Please message me with any questions at all. Thank you!

I've had 'Email any questions' in every listing since I started here. It's not going to go away either.
