Warning - 1 Day Handling is Becoming the New Default

"but you can always change it" and "we'll give you until January to get used to it by removing defects".   It seems like eBay is using every "default" they can find to their favor.  I am not shipping in 1 day, so I'l  just have to remember to make this change, too.

In September 2019, eBay will update the pre-filled value in the Handling time field in the eBay listing flows to 1 day. Currently, eBay listing flows are pre-filled with 2 or 3 days.

The 1 day handling time change will be an optional default when you create new listings. You can still select the handling time that works best for you at any time, and we will not change handling times in your existing listings.

We recommend you show a handling time of 1 day or less in your listings as delivery speed is an increasingly important factor in buyers’ purchase decisions, and because you are already shipping most of your shipments in 1 day or less. By reducing your handling time, your listings will be more appealing to buyers looking for a faster delivery.

To allow an opportunity to adjust to a 1 day handling time, we will protect your account from late shipments that are a result of the update. Through January 1, 2020 we will remove defects for a late shipment that are a result of the update. These protections will apply to transactions for listings on eBay.com where a 1 day handling time is stated. Defects will be automatically removed within 1-2 weeks of being received.

I got the same email, but haven't read it yet.

You have to be careful before clicking any buttons, make sure there isn't something pre checked/selected that you don't want checked/selected.

Double check everything before hitting that submit button.

Thanks for posting this as I changed to 2 day handling awhile ago since I didn't offer free returns and lost my 10% TRS plus listing discount I figured this would give me room to relax since I am East coast & to many times after I go to bed & Then I get paid at 1AM EST and have to rush in the mornings to get items shipped for the 1 day handling .
I will have to double check my listings now since I ship in 1 day many times then they will target me also

I hate emails from a robot that tries to tell me how to run my business.  One more pita thing to have to be on the lookout for to uncheck and fix before I submit a listing.

I received the same message. Just because I historically ship in 24hrs or less does not give them the right to DECIDE for me that all my new listings from here on out will be changed from MY CHOSEN 2-3 Day handling time to 1 DAY. I chose not to opt into Guaranteed Delivery for a reason, I always ship within 24hrs but if I need to take up to 2 days to ship an order due to illness, family matters or vacation or any other reason I see fit I WANT THAT CHOICE! Just another in the long string of policies and updates trying to wrest control of OUR BUSINESSES away from us! No Thanks

I just plan to change it.  I used to be at 1 day, but now I am at 3 or 4 days because I was being punished too much for shipping on the 2nd day.  I travel a lot, so I also cancel my listings when a trip is coming up rather than risk getting demerits for mailing on the 5th day.

I have just restarted selling and have mine set at 3 days, through I try to do it in one day.  However, if they order on Friday while I am at work, it doesn't go out til Monday as non of the Post Offices in my area are open on Saturdays.

This is not going to affect me since I am so used to eBay trying to sneak things into my listings that I double and triple check everything before submitting.

Give it time and I am sure they will auto enable all the listing upgrades as well to try and get some extra fees from unsuspecting sellers.

So it says in September 2019 ... they do realize that September is over on Monday right !! Seems like this email should have been sent out at the end of August not the end of September.

Set up business policies. You build in the handling time to each policy and your policy's rules would override anything else.

It's one business day.  Weekends and holidays aren't counted as business days.  Receiving an order on Friday and shipping on Monday is one business day. I have mine set at two business days, same deal.

Maybe it is a fake or one of those "sent in error" like the last few regarding forced Managed Payments sign ups or the latest promotion for 10000 listings good til 2038.   

You never know anymore.
