I know that potential buyers can do whatever they want, and that they have many reasons for putting an item on their Watchlist--but am I alone in wanting to say to them "For the love of all that is holy, will you PLEASE just bid?!!" End of rant.

For YOUR sake, stop looking at the watchers..............

Actually no you are not alone however lack of purchases from the watchlist is the last thing to worry about. Just remember this if a buyer who is serious about an item they are willing to purchase they would outright purchase it, make an offer or accept a special offer. They are willing to negotiate. Buyers who are just finding out what an item sells for or just thinking about the item and watching others aren't serious. To be honest I don't even look at how many people are watching my items. I only see the amount of watchers when I send a special offer.

Simple:
Unless you're intending to send offers to the watchers, IGNORE them and get on with your business life on eBay.
My experience with watchers is that over 90% of them are wishy-washy and will amount to nothing... If the rest are really interested, they'll buy regardless of the anxiety you may put yourself through. The vast majority are only lookey-loos.
Cheers, Duffy

It could be that the Watchers are others looking to see what an item they may be considering selling is priced at. I've done it myself. Best of luck on future sales.

I keep several items in my Watchlist... stuff I have bought in the past for future reference, or stuff I want to buy when the time is right.
As a seller, I WANT watchlisters to buy my stuff, but that stuff will sell to the right person at the right time

Did it crossed your mind that some buyers like to compare merchandise, making reminder note that item may be to their liking, doing research about particular item…we can go on and on..🎻

My listings are all Buy It Now, and I use the Watchers to my benefit.
When I notice someone watching an item, I'll send them an offer. I get quite a few sales this way.
However, when I notice there are a lot of watchers, yet no one has bought at regular price or accepted my offer, I end the listing and tweak it a little, then re-list it. I don't need the listing to show buyers "10 people watching this item" because that shows that no one was actually interested in BUYING it.
With that said, I see the OP wrote "PLEASE just bid", so they are probably talking about auctions.

Have added items to my watch list as both a seller and possible buyer. Info that that won't lead you to the path of success - your listings are your best sales person combined top shelf customer satisfaction from day one.
Never paid much attention to the watches or view numbers

If you're getting a lot of watchers but no bidders/buyers, this often means that the item you're selling is priced too high. Just speaking from personal experience, feel free to take this with a grain of salt.

Of course! That’s why I said “…there are many reasons…”.

Do you know that potential buyers have many reasons for putting an item on their Watchlist, and that bidding on your item may not be one of them?

You know that buyers can do what they want and that there can be many reasons for putting something on their watch lists? However, you want to tell them to "please just bid"?
You do realize that many of them aren't not going to bid or buy? Why not just be happy that your item is on someone's watch list, which can indicate interest?
