Variations and Item Specifics

How do Item Specifics work with a listing with Variations?

For example, if a Variation listing has multiple sizes (2, 4, 6, 8), what size goes in the Item Specific field for sizes?

• "2"?
• "2,4,6,8"?
• "2, 4, 6, 8"?
• "2 4 6 8"?
• "2-8"?

And when a customer is subsequently looking at search results, and clicks on the "6" size on the left, will this listing then be in the results?

Same question for colors.

When you create a variation for Size, you can't fill in the item specific for Size - the listing will not publish and you will get an error message. Same for Color and any other attribute.
