I've noticed this happening the last few days. Every time I go to my GTC MV Listings and change quantity to restock or change price, ebay ends up removing ALL of the variation photos and changes the parameter of those photos from "color" to "use default photos."
It's really frustrating when I have listings with over 100 variations... I have to re-upload all of those photos when I change the quantity of just one variation. What's supposed to take a few seconds to do can end up taking almost 10 minutes.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I would think this would be a pretty top priority issue since it can cause ALOT of SNAD cases because of lack of photos.

Hasn't happened to me yet, but I remember reading about someone else who had this issue several months back. The poster said it was happening to them on and off for a while. If I can find the post I'll link to it.

@Anonymous Yea thanks. Let me know when you do.

I edit inventory levels nearly every day for GTC multi variation listings and have not experienced this?
Could you give is a couple item number of your items that this is happening to? We can see from our end if pictures are missing from our view.
Good Luck Selling!

I believe another Seller also posted this problem in the Technical Issues discussion group. I didn't see an answer though.
I know all my listings are GTC and probably within the last month, I received an email saying there was a glitch and some Sellers with GTC listings had ALL their photos disappear and they could not get them back. Of course, I cannot find that email now that I need it!
But you could try posting this in the Technical Issues discussion group and hopefully someone will come to your rescue! Best of luck.

It has happened to me several times in the last month when creating a new listing.
If I create it and then realize I need to make a small change (before publishing the listing), it wipes out all the photos and all the prices. Since I have many variations, it takes about an hour to re-create it.
It has not happened to me yet when revising a listing because I try to revise them as seldom as possible (because of the glitches). I'm worried about what will happen the next time I try.

Yes I edit pretty much every day too... because I'm always restocking my various inventory. @gopetersen I'm not sure if my issue is related to yours, because it doesn't involve wiping out price or the gallery (header) photos... it's just the variation photos.
This glitch actually affects ALL of my listings, not just selected few. For the sake of being thorough, you can use this item as an example http://www.ebay.com/itm/361403636170 (item 361403636170 in case ebay doesn't let me link my own listing here).
Currently it shows the correct color photos for each variation because I ALWAYS re-upload the photos now immediately after changing the quantity. I never want the buyer to complain I didn't show a color for a variation they bought. Anyways, so if I revise the listing and change quantity or price for any variation, it will remove the variation photos. What happens is it will change from the "color" setting back to the default "use default photos" setting shown in the screenshot... so there are no photos. Normally up until a few days ago, I wasn't able to change this setting after the listing made a sale... the setting would be greyed out. But now it's not. I wasn't even able to click into that pulldown menu and expand it. But you can see from above that I did it just fine. So I suspect in the past, the glitch was still trying to remove the variation photos but couldn't because of this "greyed out" restriction. But now that restriction is gone, the glitch removes photos from any listing I do this revision for.
So here is how the listing looks after the glitch removed the photos. Variation photos gone. I fear that buyers will get confused on what is "black w white logo" and what is "solid black" colors... it's happened before.
Also I have other listings that the gallery photo doesn't show every color I offer, I don't want someone buying a pink color and expecting a different shade than the one I have because ebay removed the photo.

I didn't find the thread, but I think the poster was @tweetystwades, perhaps they can weigh in if they were able to find a resolution.

Hi,
Yes, it was happening to me a few months ago. Whenever I made a change to a multiple variation listing it wiped out all my pics. I put in a tech issue and it worked for a while, but it happened again a few days later. It was corrected again, and I didn't notice it happening again. I haven't made a change to multi variation listing lately, now I hope I don't have to.
I don't know if they actually fixed it, or the glitch corrected itself.
Good luck!

I do not actually check my pictures the way you are showing. The only time I do anything in the load pictures for this specific variation is at the time I create the listing.
After that when I am updating inventory I can see the pictures associated with each variation in the inventory edit fields. I have not seen any that were missing. I just now double check about 10 active MV listing of mine and no pictures are missing.
I am not sure why you are having this issue?

Thanks for the input guys. I do remember an issue a few months back not too long ago, and reading it here in the forums. Ebay was randomly removing Gallery photos (not variation photos) for some sellers... me included. I believe that issue is unrelated to this one.
So anyways, I called my concierge. She said they are aware of this issue... saying it's global and not just affecting me. That gave me a sigh of relief... not because misery loves company, but because I didn't have to bend over backwards to try and persuade ebay to fix the issue since now it affects a larger quantity of sellers.
She mentioned it's being caused by multiple changes ebay is making in regards to the UPC identifiers to prepare for the Fall Seller Update. She claimed it only affects listings that do not have those UPCs on there. But I showed her ALL of my listings are affected (walking her thru one of my listings that clearly have UPCs and is still being affected). I stumped her and she created like 2 different support tickets for me or something. Hopefully it's similar to what @tweetystwades did. Anyways, she says she'll get back to me on Wednesday regarding this. I do hope ebay doesn't sweep this under the rug, because I'm already doing sooooooo many work-arounds regarding numerous ebay glitches. It's starting to take up too much of my time that could've been spent on growing my business.
*Sigh* taking an hour to update/restock inventory quantities when it should normally take less than 10 minutes.

This has been happening to us on and off this month! Every time we adjust the inventory, the variation photos are deleted and we are left with the default photos only. I called again last night and was told that she didn't see ANYTHING about ANYONE else having this problem. Sigh. So glad we found this board so we know it isn't just us. I kept trying to ask if there was a setting I needed to change or anything I was doing wrong, but was told no, I wasn't doing anything wrong, but she couldn't find anything to show that it was a problem with Ebay. No support ticket or anything. She said she would research it and then called me back to say that she coudln't find anything about this issue. Very frustrating.

The problem is even worse today than it was a week ago.
After more than three hours of trying to find workarounds, I gave up. I have products BUYERS HAVE REQUESTED and I can't even get them listed.
