Unwarranted negative feedback

Unhappy with Ebay policy that lets Ebay buyers get away with leaving unwarranted negative feedback and getting away with it.  I advertised a model car body and decals for sale and buyer "imagined" he was buying the whole kit. My add clearly stated it was body and decal sheet only and pictures proved it as well. Buyer never  messaged me before or after about any issues they had. Just went off on me with negative feedback. I have messaged the buyer several times to refund sale and keep what he has but no response. With over 11,000 positive feedback I take offense to this false claim.I wish Ebay was more pro seller oriented...........After all if Ebay lost its sellers there would be no Ebay!

IMHO your listing wasn't as clear as you think it was.  I would encourage you in the future to do few things.  Don't put you description or your titles in All Caps.  For many people it is hard to read.  In the written form, it means you are yelling.  Much of our traffic comes to us via Google.  Google doesn't like repeat words in the title or all words in All caps.  My personal rule of thumb is no more than 3 maybe 4 words in all caps in the title.  Used to emphasis the most important words.

In your description and your title I would put NOT a complete Kit.  To me, on this transaction I don't think your listing was as clear as you think it was.

Buyer never  messaged me before or after about any issues they had.

There is no requirement for a buyer to do this, however before leaving a negative or neutral, it is suggested to the buyer they should contact their seller first, but not required.

Just went off on me with negative feedback.

From the buyer's point of view, this is what happened.  However their complaint that they couldn't file an INAD without a picture is a THEM problem not a YOU problem.  It is a requirement in the process of filing an INAD due to damage.  Not sure why they were trying to use that reason, but they did if they couldn't file the claim without a pic.  That also tells me that they couldn't attach a pic because it wouldn't support what they were claiming about the condition of what they received.

Your response is really not a good thing to ever do on YOUR feedback page.  Every buyer that looks at this sees [perceives] you are yelling at the buyer [because of the all caps] and you were far from professional in your response.  I know you won't like my next statement, however it is true.  Your response likely did more damage to your feedback page than the negative the buyer left.

I have messaged the buyer several times to refund sale and keep what he has but no response. With over 11,000 positive feedback I take offense to this false claim.

Some of what the buyer said is untrue [about the pic] and then there was other portions that was their point of view.  That is allowed.

I wish Ebay was more pro seller oriented...........After all if Ebay lost its sellers there would be no Ebay!

WELLLLL!  That is not actually correct.  Yes, Ebay needs sellers but Ebay also needs buyers.  Without buyers there is no need for sellers.  Without sellers there is no need for buyers.  It is a two way street and all sellers need to understand this.

Now with all that said.  IMHO you should be able to get this feedback removed for cause.  Or at the least Ebay can edit the comment, but I'd go for full removal so your remark disappears too.  The reason is about what I stated above.

Your buyer said "I've been trying to return it but you make it impossible to do so since you require a photo of the product ,which my phone isn't the right type. I feel the return of this product will not be possible since you make it impossible to do so. "

That is all untrue.  It is Ebay that requires the pic for certain types of INADs being opened.  To me it is clear they didn't want to provide a pic.  IDK what they mean by "my phone isn't the right type".  The vast majority of phones take pics.  However there are some you can get that don't.  But it is unlikely to be correct.

You can request the feedback to be removed here.  Make sure you give them the details of what is wrong with the feedback that doesn't require your opinion verses theirs.  Just stick to the facts.

Go to the Seller Help page. Towards the bottom of the screen you will see a place to click on to submit the feedback for removal.

I can see the other posters concerns about making a point of having Bernstein's real car in the photo array.

However, I've been to the Gatornationals enough times over the years to know that the actual car isn't part of the listing, and I would assume that a drag racing enthusiast and model builder would study the listing enough to know what they are buying.  Although you do state as much in the detailed listing, unfortunately most buyers don't seem to bother  reading these days.  I guess sellers should 'dumb down' their given listings as much as possible to avoid this kind of thing.  You have a lot of neat kits, some of which I can remember building back in the 1960's.  Sorry this happened to you.

The actual finished car sure, but the title says in part "TEMPO FUNNY CAR WITH DECALS PACKAGE"

Re: Unwarranted negative feedback

When referring to 'the actual car', I was speaking of Kenny Bernstein's REAL LIFE  Budweiser King Funny car IN THE PHOTO, which by the way isn't a model.

I think Ebay policy should be that if buyers have a problem with purchase they must prove they messaged seller first to try to resolve the issue before leaving negative feedback and blindsiding the seller.

I reckon that eBay's data analysis would show that that is precisely what the vast majority of buyers do.

Because most people are sane.

An infinitesimally tiny minority of our species are true miscreants.

And that is why negative feedback is, in the grand scheme of things, a fraction of positive feedback on any given profile.

In conclusion, there is no need for the requirement that you propose.

Re: Unwarranted negative feedback

I read through your description on that item, and I wanted to point out that No Returns in your description is overruled by eBay’s money back guarantee.  If a buyer opens an item not as described case with eBay, you will be refunding, with or without the item being returned, if the buyer escalates the case to eBay.

Re: Unwarranted negative feedback

I know what you are saying.  Person wrote I ripped them off and overcharged postage.  Not true I buy labels through eBay.  So saying I ripped them off and other negatives is wrong.  They never contacted me until after they wrote bad feedback.  eBay just said they can share honest feedback.   They don’t care if it hurts your sales.

Sorry you experienced that.  Ebay doesn't remove feedback simply because the seller doesn't like it or agree with it.  The feedback actually has to break one of the feedback rules.
