Unpaid sales

When is Ebay going to require credit card information from buyers so that when they win the bid, they PAY for the item? Instead of leaving it to sellers to try to collect payment. There is no recourse for the seller, and no punishment for a buyer who never pays.

What you say?   the winning  bidder knows the  price they  bid*,* the shipping  is know  before they bid and  sales tax isn't hard to figure out - I just round up 10% in my head - even though our ST is 7%.  No magic or surprise or sticker shock me thinks in

Re: Unpaid sales

Why are you sending an invoice? eBay sends an invoice.  Getting multiple invoices is sure to tick off a buyer.

I just made an offer a few days ago and when it was accepted the invoice specifically said to pay by 4 days!  It said that right by the pay button.  I paid immediately but I didn't  have to.  What if I was planning on making more purchases over the next couple of days and want to pay for everything in the cart with one payment?

If eBay allows payment by 4 days it's not right to get an attitude or be tired of waiting if a buyer does exactly what is allowed.

I'm sorry selling on eBay frustrates you.  Here's my tonic.  A little chocolate and a glass of wine and let Calgon take you away.  The customers that pay are the ones that are worthy of occupying  your thoughts.  Don't allow the ones that  don't pay to take up negative  space in your  brain.  Don't  give them a thought until after they don't  pay. Cancel, block em and final thoughts should be good riddance, they'd probably a PIA if they paid!  Keep smiling and be thankful for the good buyers!

Re: Unpaid sales

As a buyer I pay right away, BUT when I buy more than one item from a seller and the cart isn't working per usual I really don't want to pay for one item at a time, paying full shipping price for each if the seller combines shipping.  It's a pain in the butt for both the buyer and seller.  Also, on the rare occasion I bid on multiple auctions from a single seller, it's nice to be able to let them accumulate (if I win) over a  period of two or three days and then pay all in one fell swoop.

As a seller I HATE having immediate payment shoved on my listings when I don't ask for it.  That's one of the reasons I love using best offer and have opted OUT of allowing the immediate payment thing.  Buyers can  shop at their leisure over  a period of days, then pay all at once.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Please don't compare eBay to Sotheby's. That's ludicrous.

Re: Unpaid sales

As a buyer I think  most people have had  buying experiences all their life. - I started buying  stuff at the  soda fountain  at the  local drug store   3 blocks away from our home at age 6; bought fishing tackle via mail order and stuff thru  the big fat Sears Roebuck and Co. mail order catalog  in my early teens - sent cash through the mail - never a problem; later I bought my first car at age 14; financed my first car at 20 and in college and tons of  other items, homes, boats.  In a nutshell  people  have   at least those or similar experiences and will as long as " God is willing and the Creek Doesn't Rise".  I addition spent 41+ in sales & marketing as a career and sold  & bought stuff bought  stuff via the internet version of the  Sears mail order catalog.  As a buyer I want to be treated with  respect and if I have an issue I want it to be handled w/o a lot of fanfare.  As a seller  I  always did what was right with my customers - never  argued with them 'cause sometimes they will come by for more.  In selling I believe the buyer and his cash is  King or Queen.   Some people just want to be order and cash takers - that is not a seller in my book - a monkey can do that or a robot .

eBay has rules, policy, requlations, some are the  same as other venues some are different - no one venue will satisfy all the  wishes  people will have.  In ones best very  best efforts we will only please 80&  of the people we deal with - that means 20% are not  totally please and that is what you see posted on these boards and most of their issues  are a result of them  not reading and comprehending.

Re: Unpaid sales

I've had 3 "buyers" not pay for 3 different items in the past 3 weeks. I'm sick of these frauds. Why aren't they getting banned from EBAY? This is so unfair to sellers! And it's not like we're talking about big money--these are all items under $35.00!

EBAY needs to punish these people and keep them off of Ebay for at least 6 months. Too many crooks making Ebay a bad place to do business.

Re: Unpaid sales

The same can be said for sellers-after seeing how much Ebay takes out for their cut, the taxes, and sometimes the shipping charges are higher than we thought. So a $30 sale can result in a $20 profit to the seller.

Re: Unpaid sales

Do you not cancel on day #5, citing "buyer did not pay" as the reason?
