Unpaid item from April 30

shouldn't that let me close the unpaid item today?  it was sold at 12:17.   But for some idiot reason, eBay claims (in my eBay) that it sold May 3rd even though the listing says April 30.     Shouldn't I be allowed to close that today?

Thanks @pburn. That's definitely a recent change because when I last looked about a month ago that text wasn't there. Good to see eBay clarified that.

Re: Unpaid item from April 30

You need to wait 4 calendar days and then cancel for nonpayment on day #5.

Your options to auto cancel would be either 4 days, or after the number of days that you have set up to allow buyers to combine purchases, whichever is longer. And of course any option that you choose can be adjusted by the eBay gremlins when you're not looking.

I've also had a couple of global shipping non payers get 'stuck' in the system where the automatic cancel wouldn't trip after 4 days.  I had one that went 2 weeks before I finally went in and cancelled using the non-payment option.  I've never had that happen with US non-payers.

I wonder if the GSP sending of reminder invoices resets the counter.  Sellers can't send invoices to GSP "buyers" so it would have had to be eBay doing it.

Even if they haven't sent an invoice, today is only the 3rd day since it sold.

I know there have been discussions about this before but I don't understand why ebay would

set it up so that sending an invoice starts the countdown again.

Actually this OP has another thread on this vary question.  They started the threads just a couple days apart.

Sending a reminder invoice does not affect the countdown.  I've done it many times since this new cancelation policy started.  I think the clock is different for those that send an invoice with Combined shipping or something that changes the amount that was originally on the invoice at the moment of sale.

That would make sense to me.  The buyer didn't know how much they owed the seller until they sent them an invoice.  This could especially be true with auctions.  A buyer that purchases a few items from auctions that end within days of each other.  Sending a combined invoice with combined shipping would then start the non payment clock.

You have to wait 4 days. Don't be impatient thinking at the "exact" time of closing you will get the refund. April 30th to May 3rd is not quite 4 days.

That is not at all the issue.
