I opened my app today to check on my listing and it had moved to unsold. It had only been up for like 4 days. That was odd.
Then later on I couldn't relist the item.
I had been restricted from selling.
I eventually found the message and got in my email stating I had been permanently restricted from selling!!! What???
I've been contacting agents but each one just gives a generic transcript of final decisions and rudely disconnects the chat. I went through 5 or 6 agents before the chat disconnected accidentally and then got the automated message saying chat is unavailable.
Apparently there was to many cancelations and complaints.
It wasn't until after an agent brought that up that I remembered about a year ago that someone hacked into my account and had fraud listings. But before I even knew about it ebay had already stepped in and handled it. Said I was good to go.
I opened my app, saw some return and refund requests that had already been resolved that baffled me. Then messages from eBay that they had it all fixed. I was forced to change my password too.
But according the agents there is no record of this and I'm sol.
How is ebay going to step in and fix this, never leave any record of it, and then punish me a year later for it???

I wish I could tell you. I'm sure I do have a couple negative feedback from 5+ years ago

This isn't the first post I read today about someone who was suspended and is linking it to a prior account hack.

No trash is empty. I never deleted them.
And the hacker was caught in June I guess according to a rep. Not sure when they started though.
And what is the fvf? I paid all my buyer fees.
It all went like that cause i was forced to buy the phones then mislead to think they were unlocked. The buyers had them shipped outside the US. Then I found out about the usa reseller flex policy. These devices are sorta unlocked, but lock to the first usa sim inserted. They reject international sims.
I was back and forth between research, the carriers, apple, unlocking sites, a local place, and updating them on my findings and our plans.
When their sims didn't work they both opened cases before contacting me. That was fun. I used PayPal not knowing and had both amounts of the phone sales charged to my bank and had no idea why.
It came to a point where the first guy returned and I paid shipping. I had to do that through PayPal too.
With the second guy we didn't realize we ran out of time.
I was able to use his email from PayPal and offer either ship it to me and back unlocked or get his money back.
He had to give me his PayPal info through ebay because we agreed on a new partial refund amount and found out about ebays one time shot at a partial refund.

If that's true it's just sad. Especially when they rudely toss people aside. I spent hours while running around doing errands trying to contact someone and just kept getting told I was unsafe, decision not made lightly, yada, then disconnected every time.

I did finally get one person in an email that claimed that escalate my case.
That's finally a step somewhere, but I know it's not that easy. I imagine I'm still going to get the run around for a while. And probably have to retry.

This story is really disconcerting. I cover myself and make sure I don't have any other ebay accounts logged into the same networks as my account, and when I use my phone I make sure I'm not tied to any WiFi I don't own.
But TBH, can't any malicious person can use their banned account and just log into each and every public WiFi their phone touches... thus tainting the WiFi IP for everyone who logs in sharing that WiFi? Starbucks, libraries, college campuses, airports, hotels? Ebay would be banning users quicker than people catching Covid.
I'm not saying I don't believe this statement as I know it happens. But I hope ebay finds more reason to ban someone than just the IP.

Wowie!
Congrats @darkangels6sic6 . This is the first time that I have actually seen a permanent restriction from selling be removed so there is actually hope for a few sellers (very few I'm sure.)
I see that you already have one listing up. I hope everything goes well for you.

Thank you. And unfortunately not. Just that the ban had been lifted.

I would hope they do better than this too. Not just the unfortunate bans, but the treatment people get trying to seek answers and help as well. It was appalling.

Thank you. And I agree. So I really hope many others get the help they need too

No apology..........no "this was in error"?

When I got my 30 day listing ban and eBay (via help of an eBay business on facebook support member) admitted it was in error and a misapplication of a policy they had recently started enforcing, I got no apology, no credit on reinsertion fees for my over 500+ listings and no help relisting my items... nothing.
Just a "thank you for being a seller since 1999".

Nope.
