Unbelievably unprofessional eBay employee encounter!!

Anonymous
Not applicable

I recently found out about the new policy of "Good Until Cancelled" listings and the inability to opt-out of autorelist.    In an effort out find out more and hopefully learn a work-around, I called and spoke with 2 separate CS agents in the Philippines; Donald and his supervisor Jackie.  After expressing my frustration at the new policy and what appears to be an obvious attempt to the fleece the sellers even more, I hung up and went about my day.

Fast forward a few hours, and I check my account to see that someone has added 5 homosexual pornographic items to my shopping cart and had browsed several more!!!  Imagine the horror of clicking on my cart to find blow-up sex dolls and anatomically correct gay action figures!!  I certainly didn't do it and I know for certain my account wasn't hacked because of the two-step authentication process.  It could only have been one of the two employees I spoke with earlier who decided to go because I dare disagree with the new seller fee policies.  I'm not even sure where the homosexual porn came into play, but that's how they decided to exact revenge somehow.

I called back to the Trust and Safety team to report this blatant breech of not only professional ethics, but also the violation to my privacy and civil liberties and was met with the usual canned "we'll file and report and get back to you" nonsense.  Ha!  I'm still waiting on someone to get back to me for an issue I had in November!!

I absolutely refuse at any level to accept this behavior on the part of eBay!!  I prefer to close my account and go on government assistance than go along with this sort of rude, vulgar, and disrespectful behavior.  It's been getting more and more lopsided against the seller for years now, but this is the ultimate middle finger to me.  Enough is enough!!

Has anyone else experienced this?  Any constructive thoughts or ideas?

Thanks...

I would disagree. Too coincidental.  He is entitled to his opinion and knows how the calls went better than you or I.  And if you believe these people answering calls several countries away cannot be vindictive, you need to travel around the block a few more times.

HAHA Someone who has communicated with their BBB. The BBB is a total joke. I wanted to file a complaint against one of their business members for damages they did to my home while installing water lines. The BBB refused to post it unless I got a judgement against them. I got the judgement from a court with damages assessed and the BBB still refused to post my complaint. Don't waste your air or time going through the BBB.

Funny you should mention Angie's List.  I just had issues with them today. Waste of time.

I have been with eBay for 20 years or when they began.  No one, even eBay employees can possibly keep up with their neverending mindless changes.

It doesn't and the BBB is a complete joke.

As you can read at the BBB website:

If the business is Accredited by BBB, it is required to respond to complaints.

eBay has been Accredited since 9/1/1998

It's a real shame that is the reality here on eBay these days.

Your suggestions are great and I'll get right on those first thing tomorrow morning.  I do know for a fact that the sexual exploitation of children, whether online or in person, is taken very seriously and not tolerated at all here in Alaska.  I'm sure the State AG's office would like to know about the accessibility of this filth to minors.

I wasn't aware that a complaint to the BBB required a response from the other party.  Good to know!

Thanks...

Hope this helps!

I just replied to another post here re. the BBB.

Hardly more effective than Angue’s list - no clout whatsoever.

Like comparing Apples to Oranges.

eBay has to provide a written complaint to the BBB, as they are Accredited with the BBB.  This can help to address the concern of the OP.

I think I would report it to eBay and let it go at that. Most times CS will just hang up if a customer gets a little testy. Apparently, these CS wanted to respond offensively. There might be a cultural aspect as well.

If you just let it go, the CS Rep. will feel empowered and might do this to someone else.  There should be a thorough investigation and resolution.

I think eBay will most likely deal with this and not blow off the situation.  We will never know, but I trust they will.

IT does if they want to keep their rating. Whenever I have used them I have always gotten a response back. 4 complaints last year alone and I have been using them for years.

Although I did not always get the outcome I wanted.

You clearly don't know much about the BBB, in order to keep your rating all it takes its to pay your membership fee. Once you do that your record will be cleansed on demand.

The BBB is basically just a (barely legal) extortion scam. Some BBB operations (local BBB's operate under a franchise like structure) have been shut down for this very reason.

You might want to check out the BBB Wikipedia page, granted it's Wikipedia and not all info is 100% reliable but it will give you an insight into what a bunch of lowlife's they actually are.

Just like Your info is 100% incorrect. The BBB files complaints with the companies even if they are not members., Before you comment check your own facts because YOU ARE WRONG !!!!
You clearly are making comments without any type of facts or knowledge. The BBB clearly tells you that they can only file a complaint and cannot force the company to do anything.
Never not one time when I have filed a complaint have I not received a response.  (In over 10 years.) Even though I did not always get the response I wanted. And since you are so knowledgeable I wonder if you can tell us with your infinite wisdom what the lettering system means??????
Make no mistake. what people tell you here are incorrect. They are not and have never been an enforcement agency. They are their to get the customer and vender to communicate.
So in long. If you expect them to do something that they are not designed to do. Then yes you will be disappointed. If you want a channel to communicate and all else has failed. They are a great resource. Just don't expect them to do something they were not designed to do.

@jasoheat_0- This discussion is a year old and will probably be locked by the moderators.

Start a new discussion and outline exactly what happened. There's a lot of knowledge on this board and people willing to share it. Hopefully someone can help you- although, if the problem was with a specific transaction and it happened 9 months ago then it's likely not possible to do anything about it now- however you may be able to learn a different way to handle it next time for a better outcome.
