I've been getting the following message for the last few weeks whenever I try to update an item description: "We want to keep eBay a safe place to buy and sell, so we need a little more information from you to confirm your identity. (71)"
I've chatted with eBay seller support on numerous occasions, and they assured me they would fix the problem but I can still not update item descriptions. It does not work when using the bulk editing tool or when trying to edit individual listings.
I know I'm getting this error because I use eBay on multiple devices (phone, laptop) but there is NO WAY to fix the error, and eBay support has been more than useless. Does anyone know of a fix, or can someone from eBay that knows what they are doing please fix this for me?

As far as I can tell there is no way for me to confirm anything. There's no option to fix the error. Customer service has said many times they are going to fix it on their end, but that has not happened.

I take it you have provided eBay with bank details etc for managed payments ??

Yes, I've had eBay managed payments for a while now. I'm pretty certain I'm just triggering some eBay security measure by using multiple devices and sometimes using different WiFi networks. When I try to update using the bulk listing tool, I get the error message above (We want to keep eBay a safe place to buy and sell, so we need a little more information from you to confirm your identity.)
When I try to update listings individually I get redirected to this page: https://www.ebay.com/n/error
Customer service has said there are no restrictions on my account, and they really have no idea what is going on.

I am facing exactly the same two issues you are having for many days now. I have contacted ebay helpdesk many times regarding single submission/Edit and I am still waiting for the issue to be sorted.
