Ask the current administration why they are firing people when my local office has been closed 3 times recently simple because there was no one to fill in when the clerk got ill. Little offices are one man operations. A few years ago, one of the local clerks had a heart attack. If the carrier hadn't been there dropping off mail, they might have died! No one there to help in case of an accident. A lot also depends on how you pack it. Even a tiny wrinkle in your label can make a scanner misread it. Trust me...I worked for the PO. The vast majority of employees work their butts off with management constantly breathing down their necks. You've no idea what they are put through.
One of the top ten WORST jobs I EVER had is with the USPS.
I worked a temp job a the Richmond Bulk Mail Processing Center.
It was hell.
When I left I turned in my creds and hard hat.
My boss handed me back the hat and said, "Oh no. Keep that for the next time we call you in."
I handed it back to him and said, "Don't bother. I won't be coming back."
