I left packages on porch for USPS to pick up, but today I got a message from them that the packages were not there for them to pick up.
Have you had this happen? Did they just miss scanning them and they may show up yet????

My carrier picks mine up, I don't use the actual USPS scheduled pickup thing.
I just leave a note in the mailbox with the flag up and he knows they're in a recycle bin under a couple of old boxes = )

I’m going to have to watch them scan and get the receipt after this week.
I brought 3 packages to the post office. I left after she started scanning, I even heard a beep.
I get a message from a buyer asking if I mailed her item because the tracking never had a scan, not one scan and a few days later she got it. It was never scanned. I called my PO and told the gal that took them from me. No apology just “that’s weird”.
yea it’s weird alright.

They also hate to pick up for me.
I have a Rubbermaid bench that has storage and I put my pick ups in the bench.
They asked me to move the bench closer to the mailbox. The carrier didn’t want to drive up the driveway.
I use my bench to sit on and put my groceries on when I open the door. I can’t move it back and forth.

PO tracking is horrible. Even if they scan it in front of you it doesn't always update till delivery.

I always get a receipt. 99.99% of the time it's just more paper filling up shoeboxes. But now and then...turns out you're glad to have it.
Here's one more reason to get a receipt. If USPS decides somewhere down the line that you underpaid for postage and you get a charge via eBay for the underpayment, your receipt shows what the weight was recorded at acceptance. Three times now, this has been a factor in my appeal. The one time I resisted sending a copy of the receipt (since I knew they didn"t really need it, online scanning showing the weight at their end) they denied my appeal.

Lucky you! I would not be leaving any packages on the porch after this if I were you.
