USPS returning item to me, non-existent address

Not sure how to handle this...Shipped the buyers purchase and i tend to watch the tracking to make sure of delivery. Well USPS is showing this as an incorrect/non-existent address and the package is being returned to me. I notified the buyer, and asked him to go to the post office and correct in paypal. His reply was to send me  3 messages containing 2 different addresses, Nothing else. What should I do? Should I just refund him when I get the item back? Can he give me negative feedback for this? Thanks for any help in advance... Item #254075851515

Re: USPS returning item to me, non-existent address

Wait for the package to come back before doing anything, you are not OBLIGATED to refund anything if the package was not returned for any other reason than POSTAGE DUE. I would try and to the best of your ability to figure out if this is a honest mistake or a scam attempt. This will take some communication with the buyer. DO NOT ship anything to any address other than PAY-PAL PROTECTED address on file. Do some investigating like checking his Feed Back, how many ID's he has had, check ebay shipping address against pay-pal address, when was his buying account opened? all these things will help you determine the right path to take. Simply refunding and moving on may be the best bet. I just had one of these situations a few months ago and the guy was a royal pain in the you know what. I refunded him even though I did not have to and blocked him. His confirmed Pay-pal addy was a storage facility and package was refused. (not non existent addy) or because of (POSTAGE DUE) and he then wanted me to ship it to another address not protected.

Why do you care about how many IDs they have had?

@kittyskollectiblesllc

Dumb question but how do I check how many id's he has had?

You can click on his current ID and if he has changed it from something else it will show that, at least for a while.

Blocking the ID in theory blocks any other IDs at the same online address, which has caused problems in apartment houses and university residences.

But I have seven IDs, not all currently active, and clicking on this one won't show you any of my others.

Re: USPS returning item to me, non-existent address

You are LIABLE if you ship the package to any other location than the one listed on PAY-PAL. Do Not Listen To what that Person Says. It is not YOUR MISTAKE but His Mistake if He Gave a WRONG or NO EXISTING ADDRESS, Plain and Simple.

Re: USPS returning item to me, non-existent address

First, I would pull up that tracking info that says it is being returned and take a screenshot of it in case you need it later. When the package comes back I would tell him I am going to refund him minus the amount paid for shipping it to the address he gave you. Let him know when he changes his address in PayPal and at eBay to the address he wants it sent to, he is free to repurchase it. Or, if you don't feel that would be a good move, just block him after the partial refund.

Re: USPS returning item to me, non-existent address

I think that if you get the package back, and the buyer still wants it, you will need to cancel the sale, then make the buyer change his address before buying it again.

But at this point, chances are a problem is brewing just by the fact that this is a buyer wanting something at his own pace and not following the rules of commerce.

Good luck!

Re: USPS returning item to me, non-existent address

When packages are sent back for insufficient address I usually refund them upon receipt minus my eBay, PayPal and shipping fees. If the buyer still wants the item they can re-purchase with the correct address.
