Have you used it and was the delivery time reasonable. Also, any complaints from customers. Thanks in advance for any input.

Yes, I use it constantly for items over 1 lb. It is less expensive than Priority Mail depending on weight, and I have no complaints from my customers about any time difference. My experience is that it's just a little slower than regular First Class because it goes by ground, not by air. I also successfully use it for shipping fragile items like china and glassware, and have had no problems as long as I am proactive about a lot of bubblewrap and good 32 ECT boxes for packaging.

Parcel Select is required for flammable items like colognes, perfumes, pressurized propellants and aerosols, and potentially dangerous items that may explode in the cargo bay and bring down an airliner.

use it all the time, no problems........even to Cal from PA.............no complaints of slow service from buyers.....

The way they reconfigured it, though........sometimes Priority (seller's cost) is actually cheaper.

I know a lot of sellers use parcel select. The thing is with a sub-standard service is that those gondolas of packages are left behind along with media mail if there is not a truck available. Priority packages will always move 1st.

I use it most of the time for 1 lb and over orders with zero complaints and fast shipping noted in my feedback and I ship 1-3 days of payment. There have been no complaints of damages either. I had one INR but the tracking showed it went to their mailbox so it was dismissed. As mentioned, sometimes it is cheaper to use priority when it is over a lb - not always - but sometimes.

In the past I always used parcel select with no complaints. Over time the shipping became much too long and I began to receive complaints. Now that priority has been 'lowered' for sellers it tends to come out better for me to use priority. The difference in price is no longer an issue but the delayed shipping now is. It also depends on what the item is and the weight so best to treat each item separately. Best of luck to you....

I'd try to get creative with items to see if you can get them to fit in flat rates.

I had a water bottle to ship yesterday and I wrapped it in bubble wrap and fit it into a flat rate legal envelope. 2 lbs was going to cost 13 dollars via Parcel Select. Securing it in a legal flat rate for 8 dollars saved a few bucks. The flat rate envelopes can hold quite a bit more than you might give them credit for.

I only use parcel select when the item is just too big to fit in any of the flat rates. There are some other tricks with the padded flat rates also.

Also consider UPS Ground as an alternative to USPS Priority if UPS is in your wheelhouse. I find the shipping times as the same and the UPS Ground Service more dependable all around. PirateShip is easy to use for comparable pricing and they have everything including USPS Cubic.

For the larger, heavier shipments, UPS is more cost effective though Parcel Select can ~sometimes beat the price, but not often.

Anything I ship that is expensive, goes UPS Ground.

No complaints. It's just ground shipping. Use it a lot when possible. That or parcel select cubic (same thing; just a little cheaper). Have found it varies on how long it can take. Have seen it go coast to coast in as little as a day. Other times, might take a couple nearly 4 or 5 days to a week. Not much different than First Class really. But a lot of that is going ground only now unless it's going a certain distance. So not surprising I guess.

Just realize that it's fine within the contiguous states. But can sometimes add considerable time if going to Hawaii, Alaska, or one of the US territories because it'll be going by boat or submarines or something (mail probably gets driven through Canada for Alaska); same with media mail. Although, I have had a few packages going ground to Puerto Rico from California get there within 2 or 3 days. Right day or just lucky. No idea.

Having said all that, it will all be moot in a month or two though since First Class and Parcel Select are supposed to be getting merged into the same service.

With parcel select, it honestly depends where the city is located. I had a package go from me and accross country in 2 days before, but I also recently had a package that was sent to a different part of that state, smaller package and it took 10 days. The post office lady said sometimes, if say a city is close to a major city with a large hub, people will get thier packages faster but say it father away from a main hub, it tends to take the full 10 days.

Supposedly PS is also lower priority. Basically Priority followed by First Class on the trucks first. Then PS if there is room. Followed by media mail I guess. So in some cases, it can sit waiting to get loaded a few days because of that. But I don't know how true that is.
