Did I miss some sort of announcement about the postal rates going up for First Class Mail......or did email just change what they offer as a rate?

The USPS Holiday shipping up-charge just went into effect yesterday. Sorry you were caught off-guard. It was implemented earlier this year with USPS.

Yes. As our "Holiday" gift USPS raised rates 15-25% and lengthened delivery times. Higher cost, less service.

Yipes! I definitely missed that. THANKS for the link.....now all I have to do is refresh my 80 year brain on changing my table AND I guess that might even mean bulk update of my 5,000+ listings. Just another reason why it's time for me to close this store: (1) New listing 'tool' that is horrible....regardless if you "Sell Similar" or use an existing template; (2) the new ridiculous 1099 level of $600.....and I bet the eBay form will not break-out the Shipping Costs and collected state taxes from the purchase price data.....then there's the providing of their total Final Value Fees; and (3) now these new postage rates that will probably be further turn-off to eBay Buyers. Oh well, 20 years of selling was fun/interesting/frustrating. THANKS AGAIN to you and the others that responded to my inquiry. Jim

I'm going to offer a hint. It sounds like you were like me & seldom remembered to check the announcement board. So, I took the suggestion from a fellow poster and subscribed to get them emailed to me as soon as they come out.

Thanks for the tip. For now, I will only peek at it because just as soon as I APPROACH the new $600 level involving the 2023 Form 1099 level, I will shutting down this store. Not sure what I will do with all this listed inventory.....nor the 7,500++ LPs and my huge Elvis Presley vinyl collection.....but I am damned if I will start paying taxes on any sells over $600. Based upon my recent VERY, VERY FAST selling of my pool table and 1965/66 Seeburg jukebox, I might try a few bulk sells there....but no more data base management processes.... it's time for this OLD 'retired' IBMer to call it RETIREMENT TIME!!! (As my family is demanding!)

As noted, it's a good idea to check the eBay Announcements once in a while; the announcement about upcoming increases for USPS and other carriers was published by eBay on September 21.

FYI, the Form 1099-K is a standardized federal form so it will not have any details about your expenses (fees, postage, returns, etc.) . It only reports your gross sales payments received; it's up to you to deduct your expenses on your Schedule C.

@jimsvinylvault Sorry to see another 'old timer' go. Ebay is losing the wise and talented sellers by droves. You seem to be doing well tho, with your sales. Good Luck in whatever you decide 😍
And yes, USPS does this every year, raise rates for the holiday season 🙄

I personally can't understand doing all the work involved in that many listings and then quitting over receiving a 1099k. Do you really think you are under the reporting threshold for this year? Reporting sales on taxes has always been required regardless of receiving a 1099k, but I guess some don't think so.

You're going to stop selling because you don't want to be among the ones that have to report income.
You sound like a tax dodger. You were always required to report your income.
I'm glad for the law. Had people been reporting and paying their fair share all along maybe the income tax the rest of us pays wouldn't be as much.

I got blindsided with this too.
issue is I know you can bulk edit the shipping price in the price box, but if you mention it in your description, there is no way I'm aware of to edit that.

If you think taxing sales on Ebay are going to reduce the taxes you pay, then your in need of new information. If people like Jeff Bezos paid taxes on their billions of dollars we might pay less ourselves. They don't have a salary or listed income, if they do it is minimal. They take out loans from their companies for the money they live on. They don't have to pay taxes on loans, they don't repay them or they pay very little of it. They just role the loan over and add to them. After they die the loan is written off and they paid no taxes. So if you want to complain, please complain about things that are deserving. By the way, are you by any chance an employee of Ebay??? Have a good day.
