Thank you -- I do use those kiosks if the line at the counter is too long, unless it's a costly item.
To think that in my newbie days I actually went commando on a very expensive sale (over $800) by just dropping it inside the post office without a scan of any kind. Fortunately, it turned out fine and I've wised up since then. 😎

@adamcartwright Hey, back in the early days of eBay, I had a $400 sale to Germany & suddenly it dawned on me, how is the currency exchange gonna work? Guy says I'll mail you US cash. He did, I mailed the item & everything went perfectly LOL. I understand though b/c I had $150 sale the other day & I waited in line for a human to scan it.

Wow -- you're right, it was so different back then.
I love to hear stories about people being decent and honest.

It won't have any affect. The 10,000 employees are going to go voluntarily through early retirement offers. I work for the USPS.

The USPS is ONE institution that they dare not completely screw up (unlike science research). I also think the layoffs will be through attrition and early retirement.
This is one thing not to be too concerned about.
