UPC Workaround?

UPC is  required for this but I keep getting a "UPC Not Recognized" message so can't list.

I'm taking it right from the package!  Yes, of course, I've checked to make sure it's correct.

There are newer versions but it's not a product that expires.

I swear this less expensive something is, the bigger the headache.

Re: UPC Workaround?

I am having the same problem. I relisted about 45 listings that I previously ended. 12 of them say that they need a UPC. Nothing I try works. Always says "no match found". The only way I can fix this is to take a similar listing that did get relisted and change the title, description, postage, price and photos to what I want to sell, and then it works. Its going to take 10 minutes per listing to copy all the photos to reload them though. Bottom line is Ebay is not cool (I could say a lot worse). Before I go through all this trouble I am going to call ebay to see if they can sort this out.

Re: UPC Workaround?

I'm not familiar with ANY items that specifically NEED a UPC or ISBN.

And both UPC and ISBN definitely DO expire -- there are only a limited number of digits that can be used in each code, and many of the digits are used specifically for the manufacturer and the location -- so codes are regularly deleted and recycled.

Have you just typed in "Does Not Apply"?  I've been doing this regularly on items with either bad codes, or no codes at all.

And, as I stated previously, I am not familiar with any item listing that actually DEMANDS that you use a code.

Re: UPC Workaround?

I also even tried to change the item from new to used, and it is still forcing me to put in a UPC that I do not have. I am selling old toys.

Re: UPC Workaround?

The last digit of a UPC code is the checksum.

There is a formula that the upc is ran through and then the checksum is calculated, it is used to verify the code was correctly scanned.

I assume that this is how ebay is verifying upc codes.

You can check UPC codes below for correct checksum

Re: UPC Workaround?

AN update- After spending 15 minutes on the phone with a person that seemed fairly intelligent, nothing was resolved. They are sending the report to the IT people to fix this. I was told that there have been no other recent reports of this issue.
