Shipped the item from US.
Item arrived in the country of the buyer and got stuck at customs saying its cleared.
Its 2 weeks overdue for delivery so buyer started a claim.
I asked buyer to contact locals to get the package status yet i have not received any reply.
Today i got a notification that he asked ebay to step in and later that night i got notification that buyer got a refund.
I was told that once package is delivered to distribution center in the US, i no longer hold accountable to what happens to it.
Why eBay punishing me ?
I cant afford to donate almost $400 to a stranger and i doubt they gonna pay me back when they receive it.
**bleep** ebay ?

Ecuador is one of those countries you should never ship to no matter who the carrier is. been there and done that. lost the money and the item. Ebay international delivery service is the worst. You will jump through a thousand hoops to get anything back at all. Ebay doesn't care period.

Need a bit more information. It sounds like, based on your posting, that this went through a freight forwarder with a US address? When the buyer filed the claim I am assuming it was an INR cliam through eBay? Did you respond to the claim and provide the tracking information showing the package as having been delivered to the freight forwarders address? From the information you provided it shounds like you failed to respond to the case and the buyer asked eBay to step in.

Did you use one of the eBay shipping services like Global Shipping Program, eBay Standard International Delivery or eBay International Shipping?

What are you seeing in their post that even suggests this??? If a seller is shipping to a freight forwarder, the seller does not create a shipping label for some other country, they ship to the US. The post said they ship FROM the US.

Yes

I dont know what does "If a seller is shipping to a freight forwarder" mean.
I shipped the item to Ecuador using eBay International Standard shipping.
Item cleared customs but is not out for delivery.
I appealed the case and eBay decided in just few seconds that i will not get my money nor my item back.
**bleep** is up with that ?
This is infuriating

You said yes, but it was a two part question. Which did you use? GSP or EIS?

You need to appeal the decision to refund because you are correct. Once the item reaches the eBay shipping facility you are not liable for item getting lost once they accept the item. Of course there are dollar limits depending on the shipping used, of how much eBay will reimburse the buyer.

Your listings show international shipping so I assume you shipped it from Washington to the buyer in their country. Is that correct?

I was just saying that I didn't see where you had suggested that you shipped to a Freight Forwarder.
A Freight Forwarder is a company that an international buyer might use to have their purchases shipped to in the US. The Freight Forwarder holds the packages for the buyer until the buyer tells them to go ahead and ship them to their country. It is a great way for international buyers to save on shipping.
On Wednesday at 1:00PM Pacific Standard time we are having the Monthly Chat and I would encourage you to come there an ask questions. We are having someone from the EIS team at this meeting. You will see there is a post tagged to the top of the community in the Seller Hub. We should all get to learn new things at this meeting.
I would suggest you use Word or some program similar to type up questions you have before the Chat. Then you can copy and paste them into a posting once the Chat opens. I would suggest just ONE question per post even if you have to do several posts as it will be so much easier to get answers. BTW the Chat is only open for an hour.

A Freight Forwarded is when the buyer coordinates their shipping thru a shipper in the USA to ship to their address in their country. You ship item to the USA address provided and mostly you are finished with the item if it was to get lost after being received by the Freight Forwarder.
eBay shipping is a Freight Forwarder. So once they receive item in good condition your responsibility has ended if item is lost afterwards and you should not be forced to give a refund as long as the value is within the dollar amounts set by eBay.

That was my understanding also. "Once the item reaches the eBay shipping facility you are not liable for item getting lost once they accept the item"
And yet here we are.
Case apeal replied with "We reviewed this case and decided to issue the buyer a full refund. "

correct.
