TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I just got this message and I wanted to make sure as many people see it as possible.  I'm saddened by this news as no matter what Ebay is saying, the Seller Hub does not have enough features to replace the main uses of TL.  For me I am very unhappy by this news.

Starting July 2020, we will stop supporting Turbo Lister. Downloads of the Turbo Lister listing tool in the US have not been available since 2017.

Because many eBay sellers continue to rely on Turbo Lister to list items quickly and easily, we want to give you plenty of time to transition to other listing options. We’ve already integrated many popular Turbo Lister features in Seller Hub to support you during the change.

We’re committed to providing you with the best tools and functionality possible, and we’re working diligently to develop a solution that will enable you to continue to list on eBay with maximum ease and efficiency. The new solution will offer many of the same popular Turbo Lister features and functionality, including the ability to manage and edit listings offline. We’ll let you know when it is available.

In the meantime, many Turbo Lister features are available in Seller Hub at no cost. You can bulk list, edit, and manage your listings from the Active Listings tab. You also have the option of using other eBay bulk listing tools such as File Exchange. Learn more.

We appreciate your business.
Thank you for selling on eBay.

Good Luck on this new business venture for you. I spent yesterday’s listing time listing on Mercari. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. eBay, my love, until you address what will become of my last 10 plus years working within TL, you are on hold in my life. Yes, I will minimally maintain you, but, let’s face it, you ARE NOT in growth mode. Love, Forever Yours.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

Hi everyone, I see the conversation continues. Since my last post regarding the topic I have been both cleaning up my TL databases, uploading some listings from TL and investigating the best alternative. I am seriously looking at Sixbit. IMHO, even if you decided that you wanted to sign up for a store (once again for many of us) that you may still want access to a lister. I want to comment that uploading from TL is becoming difficult already and it is obvious that the program lacks support. I am cleaning up my database and preparing to move to a new listing tool. I look forward to the future building my business with a better tool -- one that keeps my photos, doesn't need extensive old active content removed, remembers handling time and doesn't refuse to upload due to "object type" required if it is already present in detailed item specifics, et cetera ad nauseum.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

The most important Turbo Lister features for me are:

storing created listings indefinitely

scheduling listings

the program staying up to date with changes to eBay categories and item specifics

creating auction style and fixed price listings

storing actual photos and not URLs

Additionally, I would like to see it be free or a low-cost as possible ( $5 or less/month).  I am a very low volume seller and anything more than that wouldn't be worth it.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I really hope they don't do away with using Turbo Lister. I have tons of listings with pictures that I have lost on storage devices that can't recovered. It's highly likely that my ebay selling will take a huge nose dive. I absolutely despise creating a listing through the seller hub. It is a major time killer. Plus I can't access saved listings to edit revise and relist for some reason. It's a very complicated process. This turbo lister program was an extremely great tool. Easy to use. If you want sellers provide them with free tools and use of software to sell on your site. However, I'm sure it's a way to make money with some sort of subscription. If I'm going to have to pay a subscription to make a listing easily, It might be time to look into another ecommerce solution such as a standalone shopping website that doesn't charge a final value fee. Please reconsider keeping Turbo Lister live at least for those that do still use it. I guess I better get busy doing inventory to see if I can relist items saved in my turbo lister because I promise if I have to start over to make a new listing it won't be using the ebay website.

@partygarb

It is going away, so you need to prepare NOW.

I personally chose Sixbits Turbolister edition.  I have no idea if it is good or bad I'm just trying to learn it.  I transferred by TL listings into the program as this is one of the few that allows that.  Not all crossed over but enough of them did to save me a lot of time.  But again there is the learning curve on the program, so it is important for you to make a decision VERY soon.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I appreciate all the information provided! I didn't realize there were so many options. I'll get started trying to find something right away. Who knows, may find something I like better. It's just I have used Turbo Lister for so long that I'm use to it just like others are.

Thank You so Much!!

Warm Regards!

@partygarb

You are very welcome.

Believe me, I understand.  I have no desire to replace TL.  I'm happy with TL.  But we don't have a choice so we must seek out a new program to use.  It is the learning curve that takes so much time.  Which is why I decided on a program now.  In a pinch I can still list via TL while I'm learning my new program.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

Hello. I am checking back on this feed as the “deadline” gets closer. This comment goes specifically to your comment on photography. Through the years as they have changed their photography standards I have now found many old TL listings in which the photos do not meet the new standards and thus need new photos. The reason that I am taking time to respond to this is because at that time, we were using Griff’s methods as taught in “The eBay Bible”. The method endorsed boxing after the photos were taken. Well, guess where we are today with all that merchandise that has previously been photographed, inventoried, and possibly boxed and pre-weighed? My overall point is your business can be set back by these things and it is a bit discouraging.

I'm not sure I have this correct, but in Sixbits for Turbolister I remember reading something that they resize or correct the pics to meet the requirements automatically when we post them.  Now PLEASE, I'm still learning this program so I may have that incorrect.  Let me tag someone that would know for sure.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I am considering SixBit as well but the TL replacement apparently does not have bulk editing or free scheduling.

The $20 regular has bulk editing but no free scheduling.

If you want free scheduling, have to go to the $35 one.

It also creates problems if you use more than 1 machine.

Good information.

I don't use scheduling so for me that is a non issue.  I only rarely run auctions.  I am mostly GTC, so scheduling isn't something needed for that.

Bulk editing for me is pretty easy on Ebay, however I can see where that would be an issue if you needed to change those you have in storage for various updates due to policy changes whether they are Ebay's or mine.

Good thing this is 6 months free.  Lots of time to consider other options.

What are you going to be using?

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I have used Auctiva for many years until they continually blamed eBay's API for doing their imports and losing hundreds of pictures, last time was 650 so never again.

I have been using Seller hub but have to use 1 on .ca and one on .com but keeping track of everything is getting a little much work to keep it all straight plus f you don't relist sold items, they will go poof in 90 days, and if you take a vacation for a few months while doing other things, you can lose all your work period.

I am leaning back to inkFrog which I have used off and on but you have to go to the $30 version if you have more than 1500 listings which I will have in the not to distant future.

All plans have bulk editing and scheduling and I will be using auctions once I get to 1000 fixed price.

Never easy and of course for us canucks, we are paying a 40% surcharge on any listing program fees since our dollar is in the garbage.

Another major factor is what is going to happen when Managed payments come to Canada.

Will we be able to use a US bank acct for .com listings and a Canadian bank account for .ca listings, or will they force us to put everything into a .ca bank and make us pay conversion fees on all US payouts.
