TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I just got this message and I wanted to make sure as many people see it as possible.  I'm saddened by this news as no matter what Ebay is saying, the Seller Hub does not have enough features to replace the main uses of TL.  For me I am very unhappy by this news.

Starting July 2020, we will stop supporting Turbo Lister. Downloads of the Turbo Lister listing tool in the US have not been available since 2017.

Because many eBay sellers continue to rely on Turbo Lister to list items quickly and easily, we want to give you plenty of time to transition to other listing options. We’ve already integrated many popular Turbo Lister features in Seller Hub to support you during the change.

We’re committed to providing you with the best tools and functionality possible, and we’re working diligently to develop a solution that will enable you to continue to list on eBay with maximum ease and efficiency. The new solution will offer many of the same popular Turbo Lister features and functionality, including the ability to manage and edit listings offline. We’ll let you know when it is available.

In the meantime, many Turbo Lister features are available in Seller Hub at no cost. You can bulk list, edit, and manage your listings from the Active Listings tab. You also have the option of using other eBay bulk listing tools such as File Exchange. Learn more.

We appreciate your business.
Thank you for selling on eBay.

What site do youuse to store your listings?

I use SixBit.

It's not for everyone but if you're managing large-ish inventories, want the ability to save listings indefinitely or want the ability to make bulk changes quickly and easily, then I recommend it.

I used to use TurboLister and switched to SixBit a few years ago and never looked back. You can read more in this review  https://ebaylistingtoolreview.weebly.com/

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I use AuctionSage. It's a destop offline program and it's $75/6 months, so $150 per year.

It does allow csv uploads and the format is similar to file exchange, so if you download csv versions of your listings, it's possible they will upload cleanly. If not, you can modify them or the guy who owns AuctionSage may be willing to make a special conversion for you.

The only issue I've seen with third party tools is that ebay limits the pictures in the picture window to a single picture if you are uploading for a pic hosting url. You can, of course, embed more pictures in the body of the listing.

I never used turbolister because the interface was to clunky to list efficiently. CSV uploads are very clean and quick if you know what you are doing.

hi, mam. sorry for one hand typing...broken wrist. i have searched everywhere on this forum to find the lengthy thread about alternatives to TL that both you and i, and others, worked on...would it be possible for you to cite that thread here. it seems we are reinventing the wheel when a lot of legwork/ideas were expressed about alternatives to TL on this same subject last year? would appreciate it.

It's probably on the Tools board.

Yes that was an informative thread.  I don't know where it went, but it was awhile ago that we had that one active.

Things have changed since that thread so I'm not sure how useful it actually would be for today.  You for sure know that with all the problems you have started to have since mid October of last year with the listing tool you use.

Here is the list I posted up thread, but it is good to post it again.  If you have anything you want me to add to the list, just let me know.

Possible Turbo Lister Replacements Some have different levels of services for certain fees, so look at the closely.  BTW this isn’t an all inclusive list, but it is a great place to start.

gosh...i am sorry, i really take umbrage with your comment about problems i may be having with ebay developers not updating 3rd party listing programs after the 10/15/19 IS debacle (which has been substantiated as an ebay problem)...which has nothing to do with my request to have you re-cite a TL thread that had great information that would hold true today...unless you are bringing to the fore that my listing program is, for some reason, not a viable program?  thanx for your help.

Gosh, No!  You took what I said in a way I didn't say it nor was in inferred or intended.  When issues arise between two programs that have to communicate well with each other in order to work properly, that is important info to have.  But hey, you don't want to, fine.  I take no issue with that and will certainly move on.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

It should be noted that other than eBay's current file exchange tool, all of these "replacement" options are way too costly for small occasional sellers who want to keep their inventory where it is accessible and easy to upload to eBay as needed, when needed. Seller Hub is about as useless as they come as any sort of comparison or "replacement" for TL.

There are free ones, but you will need to do the research on each one to see which one would be best for you.  The answer can be different for different sellers.

I like the Seller Hub, but I'm with you, I don't see it as a replacement for TL in any way.

On this past Wednesday's Chat, it was said that Ebay is actually working on a replacement to TL.  I suggested that the team developing this program come to the Chat and we have a devoted Chat to this subject very soon so sellers know what is happening.  Alan thought it was a good idea and will reach out to the appropriate team to see if them can work something out.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I've had an EBay account since 2001 and all my inventory is managed through Turbolister (over 1100 items.) If they do this, they'll lose me as a seller, and me and my family as buyers. My friend that's one of the top vintage clothing accounts will stop using EBay as well (he uses Turbolister to manage ALL his inventory.)

Ebay said they wouldn't retire Turbolister until Seller Hub had all the same functionality. There is still no offline capability in Seller Hub, which is one of the main benefits of Turbolister.

Saying "We'll let you know when we make a new solution" then saying you'll disable Turbolister in July... it's putting the cart before the horse. It's like grabbing 20 dollars out of someone's hand, then asking "Hey, can I borrow this?"

If you're going to come up with a new solution with offline listing capabilities, do it. If it has all the capabilities of Turbolister, then announce the retirement of Turbolister so we can move our inventory over. Don't just throw out "We wanna get rid of this in July, but we might figure something else out maybe?" How would you like it if someone came along and was like "Hey EBay employee, you're fired in July. Unless we come up with something new for you to do, we'll let you know." All you're gonna do is lose customers.

I don't know how much Turbolister costs you to keep up per month, but when me and my friend leave it'll cost you $2300/month in fees (his account is a lot bigger than mine.) There are so many sites to sell on now that we wouldn't be doing EBay if we hadn't already been doing it so long. KEEPING customers is supposed to be the easy part, EBay! No reason to mess it up by getting rid of functionality that your long-time customers are actively using.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

There are many unknowns right now and that is very unnerving for many of us.  The fact is we don't know what Ebay's plans are.  They haven't shared them with us.  We can guess and offer our opinions, but that is it is, guessing.

I am hopeful that Alan will be successful in getting some of the team members to join us on the Weekly Chat very soon so that we might get some answers and insights.

However this move should not come as a surprise to any of us.  Ebay has said the day was coming for three years now.  Still it doesn't make it any easier.  But we have a little bit of time here and we all need to prepare for this and not wait until the last minute and then really have issues.  We need to be proactive on this.  That's what I keep telling myself anyway.

It is a very old program and is likely causing Ebay all kinds of issues integrating it with more current programming.  So I understand they need more current / updated programming.  So that I get.  You can't move the main site along and not have the programs like TL also progress forward.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

Your situation is pretty similar to many of us old guys here. Same deal with me, Turbo Lister is great for making hundreds of listings throughout the year so I can upload them during the holiday selling season. I can't sit and do 200-300 listings like that all in a week or two through Seller Hub. That would be a nightmare. Many of us...most of us need an offline listing tool.

Ebay for me has always been a fun way to fund my garage sale, flea market and estate auction habit. But without Turbo Lister...ugh. Maybe Etsy indeed is the way to go. I don't know much about them but I am going to find out.
