TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I just got this message and I wanted to make sure as many people see it as possible.  I'm saddened by this news as no matter what Ebay is saying, the Seller Hub does not have enough features to replace the main uses of TL.  For me I am very unhappy by this news.

Starting July 2020, we will stop supporting Turbo Lister. Downloads of the Turbo Lister listing tool in the US have not been available since 2017.

Because many eBay sellers continue to rely on Turbo Lister to list items quickly and easily, we want to give you plenty of time to transition to other listing options. We’ve already integrated many popular Turbo Lister features in Seller Hub to support you during the change.

We’re committed to providing you with the best tools and functionality possible, and we’re working diligently to develop a solution that will enable you to continue to list on eBay with maximum ease and efficiency. The new solution will offer many of the same popular Turbo Lister features and functionality, including the ability to manage and edit listings offline. We’ll let you know when it is available.

In the meantime, many Turbo Lister features are available in Seller Hub at no cost. You can bulk list, edit, and manage your listings from the Active Listings tab. You also have the option of using other eBay bulk listing tools such as File Exchange. Learn more.

We appreciate your business.
Thank you for selling on eBay.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

Have you ever tried using File Exchange?  Just a spreadsheet upload/download thing.

I still create/store listings in Blackthorne and export to spreadsheet for File Exchange upload.  Once you figure it out, it is very simple method to upload listings.

I could never get that old TurboLister to even work correctly.  Surprised so many are still using it.

I believe many years ago, sellers often referred to the site as the Moon ....but shame on me! for calling out this basic, simplistic old-fashioned site:  eCrater

I use the SH too.  I like it.  But it is not anything I can use instead of TL.  The SH just doesn't have the capabilities of TL nor will it likely ever have them as Ebay previously said it would.

I also had hopes that SH would be built out a bit more to include some of TL's capabilities (archiving, offline).  I'll never have more than maybe 500-600 listings to keep track of due to severe space limitations, and that's easy to do in seller hub insofar as its own capabilities go, but even a small seller like myself found TL to be very useful - particularly since I travel a lot.  I just understand why they would discontinue outdated software and it seems to have been a bit neglected. The installation page still states that requirements are Windows 2000, XP and Vista, and IE 5.  😮  At any rate, Six-Bit sounds good.

And also, Turbo Lister has been available for download from 2017 to present. Just not on the eBay site.

Someone already posted the link above for you to see.  In short, download.ebay.com IS the eBay site.

I would never download anything from a third party site.

I no longer get enough sales from eBay to justify paying for a Listing tool....and couldn't even consider paying the fee for Six-Bit...

I will continue with my current method of holding onto listings on eBay for as long as can, but rely on retrieving the info as needed from my listings on the other venue.

While file exchange may be an alternative for some, it does not have some of the important functions that TL offers.  TL isn't simply a tool to create listings in.

I've started using my old Etsy store for cheap archiving.  No import function, of course, but the copy/paste is no big deal, better than losing the stuff altogether and having to redo the listing completely - still, actual archiving would be nice as I am a seasonal seller.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

What will be interesting is whether they will keep their promise that ALL of the features of Turbo Lister not only including the ability to work on the items offline but to be able to store these items on our personal computers rather than have them always available for Ebay to accidentally relist even when sold as happens so often already.  Also Ebay has already changed their UA agreement a long time ago to state that anything listed on Ebay they have the rights to and if I remember correctly that included Intellectual Property is some form or fashion.  When the items are only on our computers, until they are uploaded Ebay  knows nothing about them, but somehow I do not see that happening with the change to having to use Sellers Hub to make your listings.

I have over 8000 listings stored on Turbo Lister that I rotate around and I had  a couple of thousand more each year with many, if not most of those selling and being removed from T/L.  Once they finally cut the heart out of Turbo Lister it will be interesting to see just how many more sellers they lose and watch what effect this will have on their 3rd quarter numbers as that will also be the when the next round of forcing Sellers into Managed Payments is scheduled to happen per their agreement with Paypal.  Looks like a lot of sellers will be making decisions whether to continue selling on ebay, moving their items to other sites or just plain shutting it all down.

I have known this could and would eventually happen but have a deep feeling that the timing is also being coordinated with Managed Payments so maybe they take the big hit in July which is generally a slower quarter for many Sellers and are hoping that the changes will not impact their earnings report as much as it would otherwise.  This is going to be a very interesting year for Ebay and its continued success as an Ecommerce site going forward.

Similar to you other folks, I'm in the same boat.  Been around since the 90's.  Used Mister Lister, thought it was fantastic because you could do everything all on one page!  Super simple and easy!  Turbo Lister to me was more complex (you have to open a pop-up window to do your listing)...but heck, we all got used to it.

And now looks like they've really set a final date.  What I don't understand is why Ebay doesn't come out with a "premium" bulk listing tool...something even better, smoother than Turbo Lister, and charge a fee?  Heck I'd gladly pay $5 a month...even $10 a month.

I moved to SixBit a couple years ago when ebay announced the end of Turbo Lister.  I used it for about a year or so, it was a decent tool, but often when I uploaded listings, the images didn't go up with them!  So frustrating to upload 100 items and then have to go back and revise 40 of them to add photos.  When it became clear that ebay wasn't really ending Turbo Lister, I came back and started using it again, lol.

I suppose SixBit is the next best thing...but it's $20 a month and in my opinion, inferior to Turbo Lister.  I sure hope Ebay is listening and brings out a new bulk listing tool, even if they charge a fee.  If it's less than the $20 a month for SixBit, I'd pay it.

Probably because they cannot seem to even make simple changes to Sellers Hub without causing other issues or glitches.  Since it was written by offshore companies I just have the suspicion that creating a listing program to go with such a glitchy site is just not cost effective for Ebay.  If they had maintained T/L and been working on something to upgrade to Sellers Hub they would have had a nice little listing tool that their customers liked and would have been willing to pay a reasonable monthly fee for,  but the former CEO's goal was to force all Sellers into Sellers Hub which I understand will also happen when Managed Payments is enforced as that is the only version of software that MP is designed to work with.  Hence their reasoning to try and make Sellers Hub work just like Turbo Lister, but evidently the talent is not there to be able to achieve this within the budget restraints that are bursting at the seams as Ebay continues to not only fail to have double digit growth as the other sites seem to be doing, but they even lost GMV in the 4th quarter (4% overall and 8% in the US as i seem to remember).

I guess time will tell what happens in July when they eliminate the listing tool that a large percentage of their Sellers who have been around any time at all use.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

Yup, I still have full listings sitting on Betsy from 7 years ago, Pics, descriptions, titles everything. We were promised a replacement 3 years ago for turbolister  coming SOON! Failed Promise yet again. If Betsy can store full complete listings on their site for FREE for eternity I would think Ebay could too, if they wanted to. They obviously do not. They should at the very least extend the saved seller completed listings to a full year instead of 60 days.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

Greetings-

Turbo Lister is clunky but I use it for 3 different accounts - 1500+ auctions.

The alternatives are too pricey and some won't let you import existing databases in from Turbo Lister. Could you imagine redoing 1500 auctions let alone getting the photos back (they are in random folders within the program  - it would take FOREVER to match up the photos.

Also keep in mind with eBay offers free listing promos have you noticed the fine print?

The Promotion excludes listings created prior to activating the offer and listings with a start date prior to, or after, the Promotion Period

You can't go through your ended auctions and just relist them - this will not count towards your free listings and you will get charged.  If the Seller Hub doesn't allow an 'inventory' section then I don't know of a way to listing ended auctions easily - this could be a HUGE issue!  One would need take a week off work to manually list 200+ items!

I really hope they will have a solution even if there is a fee.  Does the store option allow to pick and chose from an inventory of items?

I don't understand why they would make it more difficult for us people that do this as a part time or even full time job.  I am in a panic about this!.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

I'm unsure of your point.  I think we have all been aware that the days left for TL have been numbered.  Ebay has made no secret of that. But it doesn't lessen the impact now that they have announced an actual time frame.

My point was that eBay has given an "actual" time frame at least twice before, and not enforced it. And I never suggested that "it" would lessen any impact (whatever "it" is and whatever is being impacted.)

working offline works very well for me as it enables me to work on stuff as I can and not fear losing the info.

That's exactly why I use Turbo Lister, too.

What does opening multiple accounts solve for you?  The reason I ask is because we must use TL differently as that would solve nothing for me.

I have thousands of in-stock items stored as offline listings in TurboLister. I only list when I get free listing specials (I got about 10,000 free listings last year), so I use TurboLister to store the listings offline. (If I left them on eBay they might "age off" my ended items lists if I did not get enough free listing specials. )

But if Turbo Lister goes away, I will not longer have any way to take advantage of those free listing specials  - because there is no way I am going to sit down and redo the work of creating 100, 200 or 500 listings in a few days if I happen to get a listing special.

So without a Turbo Lister-like tool, my only reasonable alternative will be to create a dozen or more selling accounts and use the 50 free monthly insertions to keep 800-1000 of those items as active GTC listings that renew each month. Then as items sell out, I will replace them with new items from my inventory.

It's not a great solution, but I am not really intersted in investing my time to do the same work over and over because eBay chose to ditch a valuable tool.

Re: TurboLister is Retiring July 2020

How are you getting ten sales?! So greedy of you! I...frankly...am baffled by eBay. So much work to list and then no one buys anything; when I come to look for something and I see tens of tens of pages of Chinese goods, one has to wonder just how much money it takes to buy a soul so that you totally undermine your own citizens. Just one small seller asking.
