Traffic Count Discrepancies?

Anyone else watch their traffic on a regular basis? I admit, I'm one who checks it daily.  However, in doing so, I happen to notice substantial adjustments to impressions, listing views and external views. For example, two weeks ago, my external views were showing 80-100 daily. Then, just a few days later, the data adjusted to 25-30% for those exact dates. 

Does anyone know why this happens?

Have read that some views that don't actually "count" slip through in the #'s, and then later eBay weeds them out for a "true count".

I used to follow it regularly but decided that my sanity was more important. 

Now I just check it every week or two as there seems to be some sort of averaging happening.

Well, glad it's not just me cause I'm kind of a numbers guy. I guess I gave eBay a little too much credit for real time accuracy. Thanks!

I don't know why it happens, But I do see it constantly, Hard to believe what is true & what isn't.

TBH, depending on their processes, real time accuracy might be tough in this case. If you want to check on a very regular basis, I would build in a lag.

You could never depend on them.   There used to be third party ones you could link into a listing.  They seem to have gone the way of the web ring.

It's only sales that count.

This may not be of any help, but I have noticed this. I do not know if it is organic, and I don't know how true the view numbers are always.... but I have seem this happen primarily overnight. I wonder if it updates on a 24 hour window and updates at 12:01 am PST... but that doesn't make sense as you would think the view would appear in real time. What I find odd is just swafts of numbers just go down within a 12 hour window... which means that lets say 10 or 20 "viewers were just looking at this item within that same 12 hour time period 30 days back? With the data movement I see, this trend doesn't seem to be true. I just don't get how it updates or how truly accurate it is.
