Tracking Not Updated by USPS

I sold an item last Tuesday night.  I packaged it,  printed out label and the next morning I left it out for the mail carrier. She always scans the packages after she picks them up. I do not think my package was stolen.  I was here all day.  Is this some kind of an issue?  The post office website is useless.  To me it's long overdue to be scanned. So i have to eat the money for their gross incompetency?  Oh and don't tell me to go to the post office in person every time I get an order.  That's ridiculous.  With the way this was shipped and the distance of the customer I will no doubt have to react LONG before any investigation.  The post office has less than 5 years left before in goes belly up.  It's a ridiculously poorly run government agency who claims to be otherwise.  all they can find for employees is on par with the average bus driver who are no doubt sourced from drug rehabilitation programs. Pathetic company. The prices too....

Anyone can make a mistake..........you might question her, if you can catch her today about it....... It should pickup tracking info along the way, assuming it's not media/parcel post.

The USPS is not the way they used to be pre Dejoy. It is now somewhat risky to use them due to scanning problems and especially with overdue packages and INR complaints.

Oh it was media mail.  I normally don't look at tracking.  Is that something that isn't scanned?

I've had my problems with scanning before and carriers even refusing to pick up packages saying it wasn't their job.  I don't think that's the case with her but she doesn't exactly look happy on the job.  I noticed that.  All the mail carriers look like they have a 150 lbs brick on their back and the amazon drivers are all carefree.  Unfortunately there isn't an alternative other than sell on amazon and send them my items.  Not practical.

for me, media mail usually gets an acceptance scan (we take to PO) and then it's possible doesn't get another until delivered.  Carrier should scan anything/everything....for that acceptance scan and if not, you should complain to the local PO and if they do nothing, to the national site......but sounded like you have no interest in doing that.  It can help though.

There's alot to be said for a stick in getting people to do their jobs........sometimes a carrot goes along way also......  When the pickup thing first started, I made a point of talking to my carrier........thanking him, telling him how much it helped me to be able to depend on him and periodic "small" gifts of cash or cookies.

When the subs would miss........I'd call the local PO and complain........they sent them back after hours to pick up........and I'd try to catch them with the same treatment.......

Now, in a different location with PO box, we take to PO.........but still try the carrot approach and have no problems.

Carriers are not required to scan packages. A substitute may not bother.  The only way to be sure an item is scanned is to hand it to them and watch them do it. I take everything to the PO. I have not had any issues with the PO in many many years. Only 2 items delayed due to covid. I think that is pretty good. If you do not want to take your packages to the PO and follow their rules, then you can not complain. I never use media mail. it is cheap but it is also the slowest. The guidelines on how it is delivered are available online. If you fail to get a receipt for the tracking to prove it got to a PO worker, even with priority and express, if it is lost, it will be on you. That is from a relative who worked for the PO. PO employees have to meet strict standards and pass federal back ground checks and have a very good credit rating.  It took 3 months for them to be hired with all the checking. They are not stupid people. Bus drivers serve a purpose too and are not dumb just because they drive a bus.

...at the time of printing your shipping label, did you also click on section of request for package picking up...?

...without that notice, mail carriers (City Carriers, not Rural Carriers) don't get any extra time from their supervisor when given estimate street time (delivery time)...and every morning, going through this estimate time is "a pain on the neck" for carriers...that why so many skipped the pick up or ignored the scanning...USPS is using military clock rings time as 100 for each hour (regular clock time is 60 minutes/hour), mail carriers could get an investigation that leads to discipline for going over few clicks (1 to 3 clicks) if they didn't get supervisor's approval...let's all the elements lay out as walking or driving to the customer's front door for the pick up, then scanning the tracking number number (sometime, it has to be manual inputs when printed label is blurring)...oh, not to mention dealing with...dogs...(this is true, not kidding here!)...how much time is all together, definitely not 1 minute as equal as more than 2 military time clicks...

...the burden of the job on mail carriers has been worsen since the virus with the impact of massive online shopping, specially from Amazon...Amazon is taking advantage of the contract with USPS for flat rate of $2 each package to be delivered by dumping all the oversize and heavy weight of their shipments to USPS...this contract was signed up in 2013, way before DeJoy was appointed...this contract will be renewed this spring and Amazon already warned USPS of the potential of losing the contract to another competitors if USPS raised rates too high...let's get it lose, let's see who will pick up the tabs for $2 each heavy package to door delivery 7 days a week, included holidays...for sure not FedEx as their contract with Amazon was end in 2019...

...whomever in USPS agreed the negotiation with Amazon must have pocketed a "fat" envelope from Bezos...corruption is happening at any level in every where...

Are you saying the package did not get a USPS "possession scan"?  Tell your the woman who picks up your mail this has occurred when you see her next, show her the tracking number.  If it does have a scan as part of the USPS possession but has not received a scan after the fact, go to Missing Mail in the help section of the USPS' website.

Go to the USPS and track your package.  Sign up for tracking alerts or a Service Alert.   Sometimes that pushes them to send you updates.  Use the USPS website to track my packages (don't use eBay they don't update as fast if any).
Use the link below to find where your package is it is a Service Alert.  IT WORKS!

I always drop at the PO since I think the riskiest ride is between my house and the PO. I sell fragile stuff and see how packages picked up get kind of tossed in the truck.

But eBay has all going nuts since scanning is a part of performance and we are relying on a third party--the PO--to do its part. If they fail, we take the brunt of the burden, Things a re a bit better since the holidays. But just last week dropped of two packages and both spent several days as USPS in possession with no movement. Always a nail biter.  Finally got a delivery scan for one and passed through international processing station on the other.

We stopped using Media Mail at the height of the Holuday shipping debacle.  Sometimes it arrives timely, but usually not.

USPS scanning is hit or miss.  We take all to PO for acceptance scan to meet TRS 1 day handling requirements.

And we bribe with food.  There is a local pizza parlor that does BOGOs about once a month.   We often share a pizza pie at drop off.  Holidays are cookie bowls and starbucks gift cards.

Money well spent.  When we had 42 parcels at Christmas with no updated scans, they helped us run them down.  Only 1 arrived after Santa did.

I do that.  I will take the packages down to the street.  I will load the heavy ones(she's about 4 feet tall).  It's been consistent,  so I don't know what went wrong.  You can't call,  going to the po would be worse.  they're as clueless as the call centers.  If I see her I'll ask.
