Total loss of all sales since 5-17-2022

I wish someone from Ebay could answer me oneglassman  for the Total system crash of views, & sales, I have always maintained a TRS and a store for 7 years. My sales were GREAT until Ebay started with this new updated system. I had some 25 to 30 High-end Fenton Art Glass sales until 5-17-2022, I was having great sales just about every day prior to 5-17-2022 now this mess has happened. NO SALES from 5-17-2022 to 5-22-2022. Now I can't send buyers an offer, I normally send 25 to 30 per day, I have sent 7 in the last 6 days.

What is going on with the Ebay I have known for many years? It's not the economy, inflation and gas prices, it is inside the Ebay system. My listings are up to date with Item speciation, great photos and Beautiful Fenton Art Glass.  Something has got to give.  Thanks Roger-oneglassman

My solution is always to list more.  More items, more types of items, more of everything.

You must be just complaining about the number of watchers because your sales have not dropped at all. I made a list of the last 3 weeks and nothing has changed. The new way of Ebay keeping watchers is only for 30 days. All your watch counts started over.

@oneglassman  Sorry for busting into  your thread with a completely unrelated question, but is that a png background for your photos or your actual big back yard?  It's amazing!

I see you've dropped from 2 every other day in sales to about 1 perhaps more days.  It averages out though.  My sales are wildly up and down and I'm using to having steady sales.  I think it's important to take the long view - going just week by week may not be productive because those cycle are too short.  I thought my sales had just dumped this last month - but then I compared stats and in fact, they're up a bit.  I tend to look in 30-90 day cycles.

Hi, I live on the side of a mountain in eastern Tennessee, and you can't have a better backdrop for my photos of art glass. Thanks for the compliment on my mountain.

I have been down in sale 50% for last month and 50% down from the month prior to that. I average about $2500.00 a week more or less. Jan. was 12, Feb. was 10, Mar. was 8, April was 6, and May is awful. I have had buyers tell me that cannot find my items unless they go to my Ebay store.  Thanks, Have a Blessed Day**

...I have read so many posts recently complaining about lost viewers, drop to none sales, disappeared listings, etc...

...with eBay updates to some item specifics and category structures that could be the main reason for everything is in turmoil...thanks to those IT guys whom got no ideas that peoples getting here for selling and buying in simple way instead...

Statistically, a 5-day lull is probably meaningless.

There is just as much a chance that this is simply an organic ebb and flow of retail as it is an inside-of-the-eBay-system problem.

Same issues here.  New system is total disaster for my sales.  Only way to get any views at all is with a “promoted” listing that makes money for eBay and kicks in a loss for me.   Disgusted and probably won’t stick around much longer.

Not likely as it’s too dramatic.  Of course folks are paying so much for gas and food now, maybe can’t afford to buy on eBay.  Thank you Joe Biden.

Old way: Shows human views plus bot views.

New way: Shows only human views. Bot views are ommited.

How on earth would that effect sales?

I count 6 sales from 5-17-22 to 5-22-22.

Are you mistaken or lying?

Could it be that maybe nobody wants to buy what you are selling right now?

Of course not.  People are dying to buy your stuff.

Ebay is just somehow preventing them from doing so, right?

I use to live in east Tn and miss it so much, the trees, the rushing rivers. Now I live in Utah with no rain, hardly no trees and over 100 degree weather almost every day in the summer. I am trying to get back there. As for your sales. All of us have to suspect that the economy has had some effect on them, and that sales this year overall may be much lower than last years buying frenzy on the internet with millions of bored people locked up in their homes. So set your expectations for that. Also the holiday buying season may make up for some of this as summer is always slower with vacations etc. I wish you the best and say hello to those beautiful mountains and smoky mountain rain.

What I find fascinating is how these posts are always met with replies by people set on gaslighting the OP with their NUMBER of sales, suggesting they are selling about AS MANY items as ever.  If you looked at my sales since mid-May you would probably find the same thing. I certainly feel like I'm doing just as much packing and label-printing as ever.  But what you're not seeing is how much the seller's total sales DOLLARS have dropped, and that's because those of us who've been under this overnight throttle switch have been frantically dropping our prices, just to keep from starving.

We are not crazy, we are not misunderstanding what we are seeing.  We saw our views going to nothing compared to what the same items would have drawn before the 'whatever' happened, but AFTER Ebay made the change about how view counts are shown.  --I know for certain I already observed that (and was reading posts about it here) a good while before mid-May, weeks if not months before then.   We also know people have less money to spend than they used to, but the 'collectors' type buyers couldn't have made the decision EN MASSE to put the brakes on buying new pieces, OVERNIGHT.  Never mind the decision not to even look at listings!

Anyone trained in marketing will tell you, even in times of economic hardship, even broke people will window shop.  But some of us have our windows at least partly obscured by something, we just don't know 'what.'  Look, this OP said a buyer told him he cannot find his listings in search; he has to go to his store to view them.

Here's a question to the naysayers, what WOULD convince you?

Oneglassman, I believe you.  My blow came on May 12th, and has not improved since.

Agreed. This is absolutely an IT ebay programming issue. Not sure if it is a side effect of a new programming design or decision or an unintended consequence of the recent changes to the programming. But it is 100% and ebay issue.  The buyers have NOT stopped buying- just stopped buying on ebay.   I have had the exact issues when searching myself as a buyer. Mostly irrelevant promoted listings and bizarre results.  Then go to google and there they are- the exact ebay listings that you were looking for.  When people come to ebay and are forced to leave because of the search results- we all suffer.

To the nay-sayers and ebay cheerleaders that think we business owners dont know how to read trends and see averages even though we may have been doing this for 20 plus years........ your part of the problem because you do not understand the impact of the various changes that ebay makes.   Heck- I dont think they even understand it ...... or we would not be in this situation.

Look at it this way- if your store was in a literal mall and you did great business on average- then one day they were doing maintenance and decided to repave the parking lot and closed 5 of the 6 entrances.... you would understand the reduction of traffic and sales on those days.   It would be a roadblock or deterrent to buyers at that point.  That is what ebay has done in a "computer' sense.    If buyers cant find it, they must assume that its not there- then they go to google and it pops right up.  This is a bad experience
