Total disrespect for sellers

I am just curious how Ebay can be still in business treating sellers the way they do.

This is the 3rd time I sold a car on Ebay and each time buyer bailed out, didn't pay and didn't reply to any text message or phone calls. Totally rude and disrespectful.

Buyers don't care because as a seller you cannot leave any feedback to buyers - so buyers are all good, you can report them on Ebay (which I did each time) but it has zero consequences.

Last time I ended selling the car on Craigslist is less than 24 hours.

Ebay used to be a good marketplace to buy or sell. But it became over the past years a COMPLETE GARBAGE business. Exorbitant seller's fees and no respect at all for sellers. No wonder why the company's business is so lousy. I have been avoiding buying and selling there as much as possible. Soon they may realize that without sellers there cannot be any buyers because there is nothing to buy.

The questions is : how can such a **bleep**ty company be still in business ?

Some listings attract sport bidders, they are bidding for the fun of it, because they know car bids are not binding. Unfortunately, this seems to be what happened to you. Most Ebay bidder are sincere, and do honest bidding, and paying with no problems.Otherwise, there wouldnt be over thirty million sellers on here..who do make money...myself included.

ebay did that specifically so as not to scare buyers away from the truth.    Don't you just love con artists?

Sorry but you are NOT correct.

If it happened to me that the auction winner bails out 3 TIMES in row it clearly means that bidders on Ebay are fake and not sincere. You are saying they are bidding for the fun of it ? Well....this is why I call Ebay a GARBAGE marketplace. Please understand that if I spend a lot of time posting an ad it is not for people to have fun ! I am looking for SERIOUS buyers

Understood...but if it happened three times..sport bidding is the reason..like it or not..Ebay is not for everyone.Dont lump all bidders into 'fake bidders'..thats just not true.Millions of payments are made daily for Ebay items.

I hate con artists. What makes me very angry is that it takes a lot of time to prepare an ad, particularly to sell a car. Then a lot of time is spent answering questions from buyers. To get at the end no sale and some totally rude fake buyers who disappear.

I am very angry at Ebay. I will never use Ebay again, and will do my best to convince other people not to use Ebay. This is how Ebay became a complete loser over the year.......by making very angry customers

you may do better with a fixed price listing, and immediate payment required..it weeds out sport bidders..and your listing wont close if they dont pay.

Maybe they did not like your answers..You have had 3 bad experiences, that does not make those 3 users con artists.Inconsiderate/rude yes but there is no con involved and that does not make ebay garbage. You are condemning all ebay buyers and blaming ebay for those 3 bad experiences out the millions happening successfully every day.No one can be compelled to follow thru

My experiences w cl and marketplace has been more no follow thru/no show  than successful. How many successful sales have you done that way?

Lets get one thing straight...

Until it is paid for and the item is gone it really hasn't sold.

It's that simple, No payment, no sale.

I don't care what anyone else said.

There is also quite a difference nowadays, every car is unique... Not like everyone wants what you have, matter of fact most cars today appeal to a small crowd, your best bets in terms of all-around appeal would be SUV's and pickup trucks followed by 4-door sedans and such, even then you will find a narrow market...

Once we get into sports cars and 2 doors the market narrows further, exotics would be for a truly narrow demographic and replicars? Who knows... It is a beautiful redhead that one, probably based on a Fiero, who knows, they did a good job but it's not a true Italian automobili either. Certainly looks sell but would it sell in a car and would it really do better on CL or FB?

You may wish to read up on ebay motors guidelines and specifications, ebay is not like anything else, selling a car on ebay is an art form in its own right.  I have sold cars on auto trader magazines, ebay, cars.com, in-person auction, couple of other ways, they each encompass their very own art form.

Unfortunately since neither of us sell cars for a living we only get so many whacks at it, and in each trial there exist lessons and trifle and tribulation, it seems we get few chances to learn what the right way is and then they change the rules just to confuse us laymen some more.

Comparing ebay motor sales to anything else is apples and oranges, this is a unique platform, most everything else is too... If you have better luck elsewhere then by all means but don't bash one because the other works better for you.

So, to actually consider a car sold this has to happen:

The buyer needs to hand you the money in exchange for:

The car, the title, and the keys.

And if you can't get the basics of selling a car down then there will be no sale.

May want to do some reading, we're not selling a household item like a couch or a refrigerator.

It is a car, it comes with legal ramifications and is surrounded by regulation, adhere to the rules and you should do just fine.  I've sold two cars on ebay.

One I got quite a bit more than I was hoping for, the other quite a bit less.

Then I had to pay fees, but both vehicles sold first try and within 7 days (plus a few more because both buyers were out of state) the vehicles were gone along with the title and the keys and I had my money.

You have to understand, having a car sold in 7 days is a RECORD for me.

I have sold cars in the past it took so long that 6-12 months later the blue book value had dropped!

So, if you can finagle out the right way to sell a car on ebay you may in fact see it gone asap.

You might consider some of the above when it comes to price as well, you get what you want or you get it gone, there does appear to exist a fine balance.

If not, then ebay motors may not be for you.

Happy selling.

I actually bought two cars on Ebay. I paid and got the car both times.

If I bid on a car and win the auction I would never consider bailing out, not pay and disappear. This is just totally rude. Yes, I had 3 bad experiences in a row selling cars and the only conclusion I can draw is that most car buyers on Ebay are fake and Ebay is a complete garbage marketplace for cars.

Sorry, but it is a very obvious conclusion and statement to make.

So the conclusion is you understand the rules and know buyers are allowed to back out. You hate listing on Ebay and because they do not force a buyer to buy your care, they are disrespectful to sellers. You say you can sell a car in 24 hours on CL with no problems.  OK

RE:  Last time I ended selling the car on Craigslist in less than 24 hours.

RE:  Why should I spend all this time with so disrespectful buyers and give 10% to Ebay when I can sell the car in 24 hours on Craigslist and pay 0$ commission ?

Instead of ranting about what a lousy company eBay is and how disrespectful eBay buyers are, go back and sell your auto on Craiglist.

To sell on eBay, you have to pay to play.  eBay is not a charity.
