Top Rated Seller Up to 50% Reduction on Return

Quick question.  I'm TRS, if I have 3 day handling time, can I still deduct up to 50% off of a return if item is not returned in same condition or buyer sends back rocks?  Or, do I need to have same day or 1 day handling time?

This is more to confirm what I understand.  Thanks.

Aaron

If you are TRS, then you should qualify for the optional 50% on returns.  I had thought the handling time was part of TRS, but I guess the same day/1-day handling time is part of TRS+.

How can I qualify as a Top Rated Seller?

To become a Top Rated Seller, you must satisfy these requirements:

  • Maintain an active eBay account for at least 90 days
  • Complete 100 or more transactions and $1,000 in sales during the previous 12 months with US buyers
  • Have a defect rate less than or equal to 0.5%
  • Close cases without seller resolution less than or equal to 0.3%
  • Have a late shipment rate less than or equal to 3%
  • Upload tracking within your stated handling time, and show carrier validation for 95% of transactions to US buyers

Once you meet these requirements, we automatically upgrade you to the Top Rated Seller status at your next evaluation.

Yes, as long as you at least offer a 30 day return policy.

Handling time plays NO PART in the 'up to 50%' thing.

I received 2 INR in the last 12 months, one from a buyer using a freight forwarding service bothering me for an item she didn’t receive. The next was a shirt purchased during Christmas that was late arriving to the buyer, big surprise during Christmas. Those 2 INR have put me in the “very high” category as eBay claims my peers are at .13 and I’m at .90. No big deal right? Well, they are threatening to remove my ability to collect 50% for damaged/stolen by buyer returns despite being Top Rated+. Absolutely disgusted.

I believe you need to be Top Rated PLUS and must offer 1-day handling, 30 day return and FREE RETURNS.   You have to decide if giving everyone FREE RETURNS is worth getting 10% discount on fees and ability to give PARTIAL REFUNDS.

Yes; but that has nothing to do with what the OP wanted info on as they wanted info on the 'up to 50% deduction on refunds'....

as you do NOT have to offer free returns (just 30 day returns) and do NOT have to have 1 day handling.

Free returns are not required in all categories to qualify for the TRS + discount benefit.

Sellers should actually read the policy so they can choose the best return policy for their items.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/seller-standards-policy?id=4347

Specifically see the section on "eBay Top Rated Plus requirements and benefits" and expand the part where it says "See the full list of circumstances where the discount benefit applies."

Some categories don't require returns to be offered at all to receive the discount.
