Best offer was just not working well for us - so we removed it from most listings.
It is after midnight here and just received this email:
Hello I would like to purchase this by tonight I can send the payment right away if you’d just give me a 2$ off discount I could pay 45$ plus the shipping price. Could you send me that offer now I’d be happy to accept it, thank you! ♥️
It is currently on sale - 10% off and shipping has an .85 handling fee to try and offset fees on tax.
Would you? There is no Best Offer on this listing and while I "want" to sell this - is not wanting to reduce it by another $2 petty as a Seller? This is promoted listing, so I will have those fees and since this is not a Best offer, I have no idea where this Seller lives, so it is likely West Coast as her "night" still applies.
We usually wait for our price, but sales have been slower this month. ☹️

Best offer didn't work for me. In fact the last buyer that emailed me wanted another discount besides the 10% off already. I checked my listing against others and mine was the cheapest. I also checked the feedback that they gave and it was all negatives and neutrals, so I blocked them.
I say no, check the feedback that they give. Check on others what they sell it for, if yours is a fair price just leave it.
Just say I am not using best offer at this time. Thanks for your interest.

I probably would go ahead and make the sale, though wondering why $2 is a sticking point for this buyer.
It is not petty to want the price you set, especially since you have the percent off already.

Thanks - I keep forgetting to look at FB left for others.
Okay - so past 30 days - 86 sellers left this person FB for their purchases.
Buyer has only left 2 FB in the past 6 months.
One is a RED Donut, claiming non-delivery (can I post that here or is that a no-no?)

Not sure - discount would actually be $2.42 as it is on sale for $47.42 (10% off). We are the only one on e-bay with one new/sealed.

Just say no thanks, this is not a best offer listing.
eBay lets Best Offer be an option for topic when sending a seller a message even when it's not used on the item. I have even had people try to make offers on auction style listings. I had one offer less and make a bunch of complaints about the item. I just blocked them, because it sounded like a guaranteed return when they got it and didn't like something else about it.

Unfortunately, best offer seems to be the default when it comes to dealing on ebay anymore. Even with auctions (doesn't make any logical sense to me). Even got a lot of my listings that I removed "best offer" on helpfully readded onto by ebay...

Perhaps they want to buy the item and keep it in reserve because they don't have the funds currently. Only thing I can think of really.

You can post it if you do not include the persons name or anything. Just crop the picture to show only the FB msg itself.

Here's a crazy thought, if yours is the only one NEW, I would raise the price.
Seriously. Even if something hasn't sold for a long time at the lower price, sometimes changing it to a higher price actually generates a sale. I'm not joking!

My understanding is that many casual sellers use the ebay app or the 'easy' listing tool and this feature is automatically applied. I think you have to use the advanced tool in order to actually see this option and either set it up to your liking (aka decline offers below X amount, accept offers X amount or higher etc), or remove it completely.

I've read that lots, but I've read similar stories to mine. Listings set to confirm "Best Offer" is off, no app or "easy listing tool", yet gets turned on by ebay. I even got this laudatory little message when mine got set to "Best Offer" without my consent (unless there's some kind of global setting I'm not aware of that comes in behind me and switches that on).

$2 ....all that for 2 bucks. What is with this world? I see no hope. 😔

i put a statement in my listings ( do not make any offers unless listing specifically states best offers accepted ] - i also block people making offers on these listings -

There is no way to stop potential buyers from asking. If you go to contact seller through a listing (as mentioned earlier), there is even an option that makes the subject "make an offer".
