Best offer was just not working well for us - so we removed it from most listings.
It is after midnight here and just received this email:
Hello I would like to purchase this by tonight I can send the payment right away if you’d just give me a 2$ off discount I could pay 45$ plus the shipping price. Could you send me that offer now I’d be happy to accept it, thank you! ♥️
It is currently on sale - 10% off and shipping has an .85 handling fee to try and offset fees on tax.
Would you? There is no Best Offer on this listing and while I "want" to sell this - is not wanting to reduce it by another $2 petty as a Seller? This is promoted listing, so I will have those fees and since this is not a Best offer, I have no idea where this Seller lives, so it is likely West Coast as her "night" still applies.
We usually wait for our price, but sales have been slower this month. ☹️

>And again, it puts all buyers into the mentality that they can/should make offers on any listing, regardless if they are welcome or not.
That's why I brought it up. Like it or not, the messages that ebay sends out as an intermediary sets a psychological expectation up in the buyers that there's always a lower price to be had if they click the right button and that everything could be cheaper. "Best Offer" on things will do that, so when the seller doesn't have that one set, certain buyers will still not respect the seller and send these kinds of messages. I don't mind having some give on my items, but the problem is most of the offers I get are either where I end up with too little or end up paying for the buyer to take the item if I were to accept it. It definitely isn't helping me that there seems to be a drive to the bottom, price-wise. But then again, ebay doesn't help anyone on this site but ebay, and moving product at any price does that.

Well what I do, with varied success, is send an offer that's a bit low'ish because it seems that most of the time anyone who is going to entertain an offer ALWAYS sends a counter offer. So if I were to send the price I actually want to pay first, I would get countered with something in between that and the real price and then I end up paying a bit more than I want, even though I do appreciate the slight discount it ends up usually not being enough for me.
If some think that is 'low balling' that is fine. I often suspect the ones who never respond and let the offers time out completely feel that way and so I don't bother making offers on those any more.
