Time to put a fork in me

I am beyond upset at the moment. I think I am done with eBay for good now.

Got a neutral today because I shipped something to someone because it was lost by USPS. I handled it quite well when they told me. Refunded their money right away and sent replacement next day at no cost to them. I am beyond words at the moment.

Some people you can never please it seems.

Re: Time to put a fork in me

Welcome to post-Covid America, everyone us crazy, and confrontational.  I've ranted much about ebay but admit that they are outgunned by the sheer volume of nonsense out there.  I worry about all businesses.

The thing with ebay though is that they are spending all their time and resources to satisfy this crazy customer at the expense of sane sellers; this can't last for long.  They need to draw the line in the sand for tougher rules, there is still lots of grey, particularly for buyer benefit (ebay doesn't lose if you, the seller, does).

There is another platform that is flat out saying buyers can return for any reason.  I don't like that, but it's nice and consistent.  It seems to be shared risk, not all on seller side, so we'll see how that goes.  There are some others trying new ideas to thwart this insanity (ebay took the Amazon approach that the customer is always right, but Amazon is big and only risking themselves, not the sellers).

eBay is a data collection machine, I'd love to see decline numbers of sellers.  My volume went to zero but then I started listing some.  Nothing really moves and the risk is too high that anything will yield a Not as Described AND charge me for that return. I've been selling and even GIVING locally.  Furthermore, eBay is going to start generating 1099, since government isn't satisfied with sales tax and wants income tax on capital losses!  I agree with it if you're a vendor of cell cases from China, but someone selling $200 hiking boots for $20 should not be taxed!  Far too much risk with nearly zero benefit.

That's all personal.

You shouldn't mix personal with business.

Re: Time to put a fork in me

The replacement was sent a while ago and the transaction is from 2/28 so thought everything was ok. We did alot of talking back and forth when the 1st package got lost I told them I was sorry it had not been delivered and told them a replacement would be going out. I now have the insurance money. I requested a revision and wrote a nicely worded response. But I am not holding my breath. This certain banknote is def my bread and butter. Make decent money on any purchase. Just had one person buy 50 and made almost $55 net profit on that one alone.

Re: Time to put a fork in me

I have worked hard and all the old neutrals were when I was learning. Nothing for those reasons in 6 1/2 months. And 4 of those 5 were last summer.

Latest neutrals are both for USPS issues. One today was for one totally lost other that it took USPS so long to deliver. Which drive me nuts since sellers have no control over how long USPS takes to deliver after we sellers ship it.

@ellenshideout

You have built a nice little business over the years.  I'm hoping you are just venting as it would be a real shame that you would give such power to one buyer.  You did handle it very well.  That was great customer service.  Some people however just can't be happy no matter what.  Don't let their character flaw become yours by making you quit.  😍

Seriously when I saw the item cost 2.35  I  laughed.  So will most people.🙂

Re: Time to put a fork in me

Read what she said in message #20.
When you see the item price on the feedback page that's just the APIECE price of the item they bought; it doesn't say how many they bought.
I certainly don't understand why anyone finds if worthwhile to photograph and list one-offs for less than $5, but if you have bulk quantities that a lot of buyers will likely buy multiples of, it makes good business sense.

Re: Time to put a fork in me

If she were a top rated plus seller,  eBay would have removed that neutral.

eBay seller since 1999. This is a posting ID.

That is not true.

The OP is TRS.

FB removal for any reason is NOT a perk of TRS+.  There is ONLY one perk of TRS+ and that is the 10% discount on the FVF.

Re: Time to put a fork in me

Most of what I sell are multiples of the same item. Do have some that are not the main two things I sell also. I save old listings and just change specifics to save me time.
